Do you have experience in degradation and aging of polymeric materials in different environments? Are you in general interested in polymers and sustainability? Do you enjoy working on both longer projects and short assignments, all of which focus on a demand-driven technology development linked to societal and industrial challenges in both Sweden and internationally? Do you see it as motivating to be able to take your own initiative, be a team player, coach colleagues and carry out research projects and customer assignments? Then RISE has an interesting job for you!
About us
Within the unit “Circular and sustainable utilization of materials”, there is one of the leading groups in Sweden in polymer materials research.
Within this group, the focus is on material development, degradability and durability of sustainable polymeric materials and components for various near-market applications. The entire unit consists of close to 20 enthusiastic employees who research and work with circularity and material recycling towards various industries such as the construction sector, the manufacturing industry and the waste- and recycling industry.
About the position
The position will be as a researcher / senior researcher in the unit “Circular and sustainable utilization of materials”, working with polymers and their sustainability, both from a technical view and from “softer” values as behaviour and society. We work close to industry so a part of your work will be within polymeric materials in various environments. You will conduct research projects and industrial assignments, both in our well-equipped laboratories and on location at our customers’ facilities. As a researcher, your role will be to influence and develop our areas within polymer sustainability, i.e., finding suitable calls for application writing and develop our relationships within industry. An important part of the work will be to help to broaden competence within the group by actively sharing your knowledge and experience with others. You will work closely with our industrial clients as well as other research entities, mainly in Sweden but also internationally. You will be given an independent role while being part of a research team with close collaboration with your colleagues.
Location for position is Gothenburg.
Who are you?
You should have at least university degree within material science, chemistry or engineering with a special focus and a Ph.D on polymeric materials. Advanced knowledge related to solid state polymers in different environments and applications, industrial experience within the area is strongly meritorious as well as experience in finding external fundings and the ability to write clear and concise research applications, technical and scientific reports. You should have a good theoretical understanding and knowledge as well as an interest and comprehension for laboratory work and practical cases from the field. We prioritise our customers and colleagues, so you should have a good ability to create working relationships with both. The job involves a lot of contact with customers and therefore demands that you can express yourself in both Swedish and English, both speaking and in writing. As a person you are committed, flexible and driven, enjoy a high tempo environment and see solutions and opportunities rather than problems. You are well organized and have an interest in helping create new business and projects but also an ability to further develop existing ones.
Are we right for each other?
We can't promise you an easy job, but we can offer you many committed and enthusiastic colleagues and some exciting industrial and societal challenges. You will work in a dynamic environment that gives you development opportunities both professionally and personally. At RISE, we want you to succeed and feel good, because together with your colleagues you contribute to a sustainable future and to securing a leading position for Swedish industry and research globally.
