The Software Factory at Scanias R&D department, including embedded development, is undergoing a large transformation right now becoming more flow-oriented to be faster and have even better quality! This affects how about 1000 employees are working with the development of Scania´s electrical and embedded systems.
One important factor for this to succeed is to have clear structures, processes and information management in place. The transformation within Embedded Systems means that present ways of working need to be challenged and updated.

Our team
Embedded Method development team is fresh and growing fast. Together with all co-workers involved in embedded processes and tools, we either improve existing methods or develop new ones that are used across the organization. With a high focus on safety and quality, we aim to increase the speed of our product development work, without jeopardizing the premium level of Scania products. The team is currently working in a modern workflow both remotely and in the office.
Your new job
As an architect for Functional Safety, you are responsible for developing methods and processes to create Scanias Functional Safety process, where the development teams and other decision-makers are the stakeholders in this area.
Scanias Functional safety is wide and includes IEC61508, ISO26262, and ISO21448. Examples of methods related to Functional Safety (FuSa) you would be responsible for, could be Planning Functional Safety and Mapping Functional Safety. You will be working cross-functional and cross-organizational and be involved in all project phases from early concept development onwards. You will be networking to a large extent. RMS is a significant driver of the Scania digitalization strategy.
Examples of work tasks:
• Define the concept of a method by collecting experience and deep diving into the business needs
• Continuously improve our way of working within the area of functional Safety
• Develop the working methods in FuSa Plan and Mapping FuSa by discussing with stakeholders and describing it in a documented way
• Define how the methods should be supported by an IT tool and the User Features
• Implement the methods by teaching, coaching and “selling” the methods into the organization
• Maintenance is also part of your responsibility where you will implement improvements and adapt the methods for the new business needs, based on implementation experience
Your Profile
We think you are experienced in Safety and have been acting as a Safety Manager.
Your ability to see the whole picture and how different parts within the Functional Safety domain interact will be an asset in this role. At the same time, you see the importance of getting things right and working meticulously with details. Solving complicated and complex matters are part of your background, preferably from safety-critical system development.
As a person, you are curious and truly interested in other people’s opinions to understand the needs of different roles. You value collaborations and have strong interpersonal and communication skills. You also have good skills in presenting your work result to stakeholders and documenting technical instructions and guidelines.
Knowledge in IEC61508, ISO26262 and ISO21448 is meritorious. And it's even better if you are certified in Functional Safety.
Since you will be working in a global environment you express yourself fluently, both in speech and writing, in English.
