Now we are looking for a Senior Scientist specialising in enzymology to join the section of Protein Science and Engineering. You will get the opportunity to work in a science driven team with groundbreaking scientific discoveries.

The role

The Senior Scientist will be part of a discovery project in which we are combining our Brain Transporter technology with an enzyme that needs to be transported into the brain in patients who suffer from Gaucher’s disease. This Senior Scientist will contribute with knowledge in enzymology, assay development and hands-on experience in enzyme kinetics.

The role involves, but is not limited to:

• Enzyme assay development
• Functionality testing
• Enzyme kinetics

As a Senior Scientist you are responsible for planning, execution, documenting and reporting of your work according to established routines and guidelines. Together with your team members you are expected to ensure that the project is continuously updated with the latest scientific developments in the field.

Your profile

We are looking for an experienced researcher with a PhD in relevant discipline or equivalent background, with a broad experience in enzymology and good knowledge of assay development.

Qualifications:

• PhD in relevant discipline or equivalent work experience
• Expert knowledge of enzymology and enzyme kinetics
• Vast experience in the development and use of methods to measure enzyme kinetics
• Good knowledge of lysosomal enzymes
• Fluent in English (spoken and written) and knowledge of Swedish is meritorious

Knowledge of lysosomal diseases, mass spectrometric methods and cell or tissue-based enzyme activity methods is desirable. Experience in evaluating glycosylation patterns of enzymes is highly preferable, and previous work experience with lysosomal enzymes is of particular interest. Experience from work in the pharmaceutical industry also advantageous.

As a person, you are result oriented, can take initiative, and drive your activities autonomously. To succeed in this role, you need to be systematic, be committed to the progress of the project, and possess good analytical skills.

Furthermore, you are an effective communicator and have experience coordinating and prioritising daily work tasks. You have deep specialist competence and can work constructively in a team.

BioArctic's basic values are based on respect, engagement, collaboration, and responsibility, which are important to incorporate into this role.
