Pharmaceutical Sciences at AstraZeneca deliver the therapies of the future through scientific leadership in drug delivery, design of synthetic routes, and manufacturing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) across all the AstraZeneca therapy areas. The Separation Science Laboratory within Pharmaceutical Sciences supports the design and evaluation of new candidate drugs through purification and characterization of new compounds from microgram to kilogram scale. Our portfolio of projects spans traditional small molecules to nucleotide-based therapies and nanomedicines across AstraZeneca's therapy areas.
We're looking for a talented and motivated Scientist to join our Separation Science Laboratory team within the Pharmaceutical Science function at AstraZeneca. The position is placed at AstraZeneca's vibrant R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden.
What you'll do
You will be accountable for providing separation science expertise and contribute to the delivery of pure characterized compounds to the different projects across the R&D organization.
The team is responsible for solving both chiral and achiral separation problems ranging from mg to kg scale. You will be a laboratory-based role model and collaboration with colleagues to ensure delivery is high on the agenda. To be successful in this role you will need a strong scientific background, interest in automation and a problem-solving attitude. This is a real opportunity to combine your practical and theoretical skills!
Essential for the role
* University degree or PhD in a relevant scientific field and at least three years working experience
* In-depth scientific knowledge within analytical chemistry
* Expert knowledge in analytical chromatography and mass spectrometry
* Experience from working with preparative chromatography
* Technical skills and experience to use and maintain chromatographic equipment and liquid handlers
* Strong collaborative and communication skills with ability to operate across functional boundaries, challenge the status quo and seek opportunities for business improvement
* Strong influencing and prioritization skills to ensure timely delivery and ability to identify new approaches and technologies that can improve our ability to support projects
* Excellent English, both spoken and written
