Senior scientist / material specialist cellulose-based materials
Yangi is a disruptive technology for fiber-based packaging. Our team has more than 10 years of R&D work, and we have now started the journey of scaling the Yangi technology with the aim to build a global packaging solutions company. In this journey, a key pillar is to further build our team with more enthusiastic and motivated people with the power and courage to push boundaries.
We are now expanding our activities within R&D with the ambition to continue to be best in class within our segment.
About the position
You will play a key role in developing and implementing our R&D strategy, including initiating, managing, and performing R&D projects, develop infrastructure and external research collaborations. You will also be responsible for trials and act as a supporting specialist to the organization and our customers.

Main responsibilities:
• Actively be part of developing the R&D organization including strategy.
• Build, develop and maintain relationships with external partners, such as universities, institutes, suppliers and partners.
• Initiate, plan and evaluate trials and experiments related to the area.
• Initiate and manage R&D projects involving both internal and external collaborations.
• Develop and maintain expertise in the area related to fiber-based packaging such as barrier chemistry, cellulose technology, fiber modification and functionalization.
• Expert support for the team within development, implementation, and validation of analytical methods and instruments.
• Develop and with the team implement test procedures and standards.
The work will also involve supervising and mentorship of master and PhD students as well as writing project proposals.
Skills and characteristics
As a person, you like to collaborate and find solutions where others see problems. You are able to combine process understanding with operational implementation power. To succeed, you are motivated by working in a startup environment and enjoy having a varied job where you one day act as support for applied experiments in our lab, and the next day develop R&D strategies. You see what needs to be done, grasp it and in a structured and analytical way push towards completion on time. You have a burning interest for R&D.
Qualifications
We believe that you have a doctoral degree, or minimum 5 years of relevant work experience related to research within cellulose technology or other relevant areas. It is preferable if you have industrial experience from pulp, paper or packaging industry.
Meritorious qualifications:
•Relevant networks within the area.
•Good skills in determination of physical-chemical properties.
•Good knowledge and understanding of validation and statistics.
•Experience with method development.
•Experience from practical lab work.
•Excellent problem-solving ability.
•Fluent in written and spoken English, Swedish is an advantage.
•Experience from patent work.

About the position
The position is 100 % full time contract, located in our head office in Varberg, with possibility to work partly remote.
