Bio-Works is looking to further strengthen its strategic position in Life Science by improving the Development department and expanding its organic chemistry capacities. We want to make it one of our priorities to follow the latest scientific and technical developments in our field. We are looking for somebody who can manage these projects, develop our products, and promote knowledge.
ABOUT THE ROLE 🧪
In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and leading development projects. You will act as our organic chemistry expert, focusing on resin development, including agar emulsification, resin crosslinking, and ligand coupling. As part of the development team, you will focus on developing methods for characterization and quality control, generating ideas and intellectual property, and developing media packing methods into columns (or other devices). You will also educate and develop partners, customers, and colleagues within your area of expertise.
You will follow the latest scientific and technical developments and act as a spokesperson to inform our internal and external stakeholders on these developments. As a subject matter expert, you will develop applications and methods for using Bio-Works’ products in-house or in cooperation with external partners.
On a day-to-day basis, you will;
- Plan, perform and lead scientific projects and experimental work.
- Prepare user requirements and technical specifications in development projects.
- Characterize resin and columns in projects.
- Develop applications for both new products and established products.
- Perform technical sales support/customer service.
- Support the development of quality control methods.
- Manage the lab and equipment, purchasing the right materials, and ensuring that people are trained and up to date in your field of expertise.
- Support and participate in audits, if required.
- Identify and address opportunities for efficiency improvement.
DESIRED BACKGROUND 👩🏾🎓👨🏻🎓
- A Master’s degree in organic chemistry or closely related scientific field.
- 2+ years of experience working in development and/or operations of pharmaceutical, biochemical, or associated products.
- 2+ years of experience in a team focused on product development.
- Experience working with agarose-based or similar products to those of Bio-Works.
- Experience with the creation and management of integrated project plans, complex projects, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with cross-functional, multicultural, and international teams.
- Business fluency in English.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Experience with lean methods.
- Process Technology experience
- Any other language skills such as Swedish.

You also need a precise and analytic mindset that recognizes and focuses on issues and risks. And last but not least, you need to have a bridge-building perspective while balancing the interests of internal and external stakeholders.
