WHO ARE WE?
We at Volvo Group are constantly moving and changing to be one step ahead in this technology journey. Within Volvo Group Trucks Technology, we are always adapting and pushing ourselves to be able to develop new breakthrough transport solutions.
We strive to be more energy efficient, more sustainable and safer for society. Our organization is built by engaged people and teamwork. We are a truly global company and we believe in the advantage of diversity. Together we create a workplace that brings the best out of everyone and this is where You fit right in.
Within the Technology Stream Vehicle Motion and Energy Management, we develop system solutions and functionalities in the area of vehicle safety, dynamics, driver assistance and motion management. Now You have the possibility to join a stimulating and dynamic global work environment, as Senior Sensor Fusion Engineer.
WHAT EXCITEMENT DO WE OFFER?
The Vehicle Motion Control system needs to meet the future with battery electric and fuel cell vehicles including vehicle automation.
A centralized motion estimation of a vehicle combination is for this crucial, and this requires fusion of wheel speed sensors, inertia measurement units, road wheel angles and suspension level sensors. Some ego states e.g. longitudinal velocity will also need to be estimated by vehicle environment sensors such as camera or lidar.
Vehicle property estimations are also important for accurate control of the vehicle. Example of these are actual wheel rolling radius, vehicle unit and combination masses, inertias and tyre properties like stiffness and wear.
The person we are looking for will work in a vehicle motion management team and be responsible to develop and implement filters and data fusion for accurate values and parameters related to motion and power management, as described above.
Evaluation of algorithms in real driving situations will be part of the persons responsibility.
In addition, the person will be expected to conduct research on latest sensor technology and filtering techniques.
WHO ARE YOU?
You have more than 3 years of experience in signal processing and/or sensor fusion.
You have knowledge and experience in developing functions according to ISO26262 with ASIL qualification.
A good understanding of software development and the related environment is important for the position.
You have a deep interest to figure out how things work, in theory but also practically in vehicles and should propose new inventive solutions for how things can be solved in the future.
In the role You are eager to take ownership of the own area and deliveries, and thereby take accountability
We believe You are action oriented, and are eager taking on new opportunities and exiting tasks with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm
The ability to effectively build formal and informal relationship networks inside and outside the organization is a needed for the position. You will part of an agile team, so we expect You to be a team player and put the group/team first

Being resilient is important, meaning able to rebound from setbacks and adversity when facing difficult situations.
Other requirements and skills for the position are:
M.Sc. degree in Signal processing, Robotics or similar
Experience on testing and evaluating of sensor fusion algorithms
Knowledge in vehicle dynamics, filtering and data fusion (e.g. EKF, MonteCarlo, Robust filters)
Knowledge in sensors for motion and real-time systems
Knowledge in one or more of the following Matlab / Simulink, C, C++, Python
Confidence with version control tools (specifically git)
Knowledge of Automotive CAN protocol, Ethernet
