Senior Software Developers – Onboard Core Computer
Every year millions of people die in traffic and environmental disasters happen too often. It is our mission that friends, families, and children are transported completely safely in a green and autonomous Volvo Car. Meaning a self-driving, fully electric, connected, and super safe vehicle.  
But the current platform makes it impossible for us to have the control that we need to succeed. The overall technical threshold is that the +140 electric components in the car do not communicate the way we want it to. 

Therefore, we build an onboard core computer with the capacity to carry a vast majority of electric control units and applications. The future car with a central signal system aims to enable optimized software architecture and continuous deployment for further development as well as over the air data updates and real-time decision-making for autonomous drive. 

Platform Software Services - Who we are
Platform Software Services consists of Software Engineers with both a holistic understanding of Software Architecture and commitment to details and quality code. We are responsible for governing API and application architecture for the software in the Electric Control Units. We set deliverables, frameworks, patterns, and policies that are fundamental for other development teams to build with consensus. We also act as development support by working together with teams to succeed with development and integration. 

What you will do?
Some of the tasks involved would be On board application design, Developing software components for our onboard systems, API review/governance for our onboard systems, API development, Supporting our R&D org at large with your software skills.

Who you are?
We will wish for you to be agile, practical and pragmatic by nature. Being an efficient communicator is critical to successfully advise and support other teams. 10+ years of software architecture, design and development. 10+ years of CPP (C++) or other OOP.
The following experiences are meritorious but not mandatory: Python development, Automotive domain experience, System Safety/ISO26262, Cyber Security, JIRA, SAFe, Git, Gerrit, Discourse
