We have set out to change everything (almost!) and we need to change now! We are transforming a global iconic brand which in itself is breathtaking, and within Order Management we are creating the digital equivalent of flat packages. The change is formulated in ten jobs here: https://www.ingka.com/what-we-do/ikea-retail/ Five of the jobs are underpinned by the amazing work we will do in Fulfilment, Logistics & Inventory Management. To this end we are looking for great people and engineers, who are both looking to push the technical boundaries and absolutely determined to solve customer problems in code.
WHAT DO I BECOME A PART OF?
In short what we do here in order management is critical to the success of the IKEA of tomorrow and also the IKEA stores of the future. Our solutions are responsible for tens of Millions of yearly orders, and this is the tip of the iceberg as we look to create solutions that will allow us to scale this dramatically.
These are some of interesting challenges to take on:
Build and run the technology that underpins our global business. Across 377 stores, 40+ fulfilment centers, Click & Collect solutions, Final mile delivery and services like installation in our customers’ homes.
Create a new IKEA, by building the capability to dynamically flex fulfilment across all our network, buildings, transport and partners - responding to situations like COVID-19 pandemic in near real time to meet our customers' needs and minimizing impact on the planet.
Transform the current landscape into a modern technology stack which will enable us to test and learn quickly to meet our customers' demands & provide a highly available, resilient & secure service.
We are big believers in enabling our teams to act with autonomy and being a part of the team, you make the technical decisions of how you want to build and implement your products.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
That you are passionate about our vision and values - values like togetherness, simplicity and lead by example are all a natural part of your everyday working life at IKEA. As a person you have great willpower and the ability to create enthusiasm around you, to dare challenge conventions and make mistakes.
To be accountable for delivering quality software quickly, reliably and safely to production, and understanding the customer impact and experience of your contribution.
To be resilient and empathetic in the face of the challenge of doing open heart surgery on the IKEA business – transforming our current landscape into something for the next evolution of IKEA.
To bring your whole self to work and have fun building a better everyday life for the many.
That you had advanced training in computer science or similar experience through keeping up with current best practices in your areas of expertise.
You have demonstrable experience in working in an Agile and DevOps environment and thrive on taking full accountability for the products.
That you get energized by delivering high quality software in an agile environment, with a focus on well-functioning software ecosystems, democratic data, smart infrastructure and building a resilient foundation, which is all part of our Technology strategy.
WHATS THE ICING ON THE CAKE?
The chance to work on a business critical transformation within our order management domain. We are in the process of building a replacement for our legacy monolith solution, we will be creating modern cloud native microservices, distributing these services across event driven architecture. What we do here will both unlock our ability to scale our already impressives tens of millions of orders per year, and this will be quite a dramatic increase, as we will process all orders across IKEA. But it will also underpin our ability to leverage our new digital strategy and the IKEA stores of the future.
We have a ton of autonomy given we have just begun this process, and we need folks who understand Java/JVM/Golang and how best we might leverage this stack to achieve our goals and best serve our customers.
Some of the perks that we offer:
Great values and culture with an emphasis on togetherness
A workplace where you can be yourself
Continuous learning on the job as well as structured trainings and platforms
Co-worker discount
Wellness

In this role you will report to an engineering manager in the Order Management sub-domain. The role is based in Helsingborg, Sweden.
You might have some questions about the recruitment process and we are more than happy to answer those! Feel free to reach out to Igor Micanovic at igor.micanovic@ingka.ikea.com or Martina Wickström at martina.wickstrom@ingka.com.
For us at IKEA work/life balance is important and in Sweden it's common to take 3-4 weeks of annual leave during the period Mid-June to Mid-August to spend time with family and loved ones. Due to this, we kindly ask you to expect that this recruitment process may take a bit longer than it normally would do.
Please note that we will be interviewing continuously.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Please note:
Our primary concern since the outbreak of corona virus has been the health and safety of our co-workers and candidates. Because of this, we have adapted our recruiting processes to be fully digital.
We would love to meet our candidates face to face, but to prevent the spread of the virus this recruitment will be handled through digital appointments and solutions.
