We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in Microsoft SQL Server to manage, optimize, and ensure the performance, availability, and security of our SQL Server database systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, SQL Server expertise, and the ability to proactively address database-related issues. This role will encompass in-depth SQL Server performance optimization, including indexing, wait stats analysis, query tuning, and integration with .NET-based applications. Additionally, experience with both on-premises and cloud-based installations is crucial to the organization's evolving infrastructure.

About Our Project

The customer landed an enterprise-level project within Procure-2-Pay in August 2022. The project is for the Danish government, and the scope is procurement, invoice workflow management, and contract management.

We have had this customer using our platform since 2014. Still, the new tender also includes many changes, including a minimum requirement to deliver a completely new invoice workflow solution handling the entire payment plan for the Danish government. The project has 350+ functional requirements, 150+ non-functional, and 50+ process requirements to be delivered within the project's scope.

Requirements

Proven experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator with expertise in indexing, wait stats analysis, and query tuning



Proficiency in SQL, T-SQL, and query optimization



Knowledge of database security best practices and compliance requirements



Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions



Significant background with .NET for connecting databases with the application codebase and verifying findings



Ability to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues



Teamwork skills


Nice-to-have

Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate)


English level:

Intermediate+

Responsibilities:

Administer, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases to ensure high availability and performance



Create, modify, and optimize database objects, such as tables, views, stored procedures, and functions



Monitor database performance, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in a timely manner



Implement and maintain database security, including user access control and data encryption. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and best practices for data security



Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity. Perform regular backups and test recovery procedures to guarantee data integrity



Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks through indexing, wait stats analysis, and query tuning. Optimize SQL queries to enhance overall system performance



Configure and manage high-availability solutions, such as failover clustering and database mirroring. Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to minimize data loss and downtime



Plan and execute SQL Server upgrades and apply patches to keep systems up-to-date and secure



Collaborate with developers to integrate SQL Server databases with .NET-based codebase. Verify findings through codebase interactions



Manage SQL Server installations in both on-premises and cloud environments



Implement and optimize database solutions on cloud platforms, such as Azure SQL Database or AWS RDS



Implement automation and scripting to streamline routine tasks and improve efficiency



Collaborate with application developers and IT teams to ensure seamless integration with database systems



Provide guidance and support to developers in database design and optimization
