Our team is made up of experts in all areas and levels of Digital Experience Design and we are building the entire Digital Experience Design organization from scratch.
Within Strategic Experience Design and Research, we are building the Digital Experience Strategy Centre of Expertise and leading strategic experience design initiatives, data experience design initiatives including IKEA’s data promise, experience design and UX research, and emerging-technology design initiatives. We are looking for passionate co-workers to help drive IKEA into the future!
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Have you dreamed of creating a broad variety of strategic experience design efforts to paint the vision of future IKEA omnichannel digital experiences? Does harnessing human-centred-design to create iconic future digital experiences for billions of customers around the world motivate you? Do you enjoy bringing clarity to complex questions but equally enjoy crafting conceptual digital experiences? Now is your chance to bring your strategic design expertise to our team to do just that!
As a Sr Strategic Experience Designer, you will harness a multitude of design methodologies to develop conceptual visions, partner with experience design research to activate research insights, lead human-centred-design workshops, and more to ensure we deliver iconic future experience visions.
As a part of the Strategic Experience Design and Research Centre of Expertise, you will work alongside Experience Design Research, Data Experience Design, and Emerging tech design to drive research insights to create 3-5+ year visions and strategies to drive our future digital experiences.
To succeed in the role, we see that you have experience in many of the following:
Executing a wide variety of strategic experience design deliverables, including current and future journeys, experience goals, experience visions, experience prototypes and more
Leveraging a wide range of strategic experience design methods, including contextual design, business origami, experience prototyping, toolkit creation, behavioural mapping, and more
Working with Experience Design researchers and both qualitative and quantitative insights to inform and drive strategic landscapes and opportunity definition.
Leading innovative and fun human-centred and strategic experience design workshops and other co-creative methods with teams across the company
Driving collaboration and partnership with a variety of teams across the company to bring a human-centred-design approach to visualize the opportunities the business is exploring and align the company towards that vision
Strong storytelling, communication and presentation skills to share and advocate for both strategic experience design approaches and project deliverables
Crafting Strategic Experience Design education plans, events and initiatives to increase understanding and adoption of approaches
Providing design craft mentorship to assist in the development of strategic experience designers
A strong understanding of the difference between experience design and UX design

We are a new and growing team of strategic experience designers, data experience designers, design researchers and emerging technology specialists based in Malmö and Amsterdam and we are at the beginning of our journey. The nature of our work means that there is no standardised way of working but rather an approach adapted for different purposes, utilising what is already in place but building new when it is not.
We are driving human-centred-design into all areas of the organization to put the customer and co-worker at the centre of everything we do, constantly listening and learning from them, iterating, validating and improving as we go.
We value spending time to really understand how we can improve the lives of our customers, define the challenge or opportunity clearly, to explore broadly and then ensure we keep going back to them through a build test learn approach.
Where our Digital Transformation is allowing us to create new ways we meet and interact with our customers and co-workers, the Digital Experience Design team is responsible for shaping what the future actually looks like. We have a clear vision: to create everyday digital experiences for the many people through our human-centric methodologies, that enable creativity, great design and innovation.
