We are a strong team of 10 Sourcing Managers and Prototype Buyers. And we as a group are responsible for buying Sheet Metal Components for future projects. We work in close collaboration with cross-functions teams. We are a diverse team consisting of team members with a mix of ages, gender, and nationalities. We all have our own areas of responsibility but take pride in supporting and challenging each other to find the best solutions for Scania.

I am Shanmug. I have been working in Purchasing for 18 years and within Scania for the last 10 years in different positions. I really enjoy working at Scania and especially with my team which is truly diverse. As a manager, I believe that the people are our greatest assets. I get motivated by developing the team and the team members, as well as finding the individual potentials. I also like to encourage the team to discuss their challenges openly, and in this process, all of us will continuously learn & improve.
Responsibilities
In the role as Senior Purchaser or Senior Sourcing Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing Sheet Metal parts belonging to new Projects of Scania Trucks. You will play an important role in crucial cross-functional projects within Scania and Traton. Your will collaborate closely with R&D and other stakeholders to meet the Project & Purchasing Demands / Targets which are TQDCS, i.e. Technical, Quality, Delivery, Cost and importantly Sustainability. Being part of Scania which believes in “Driving the Shift”, we as individuals has to work closely with our supplier-base to create & maintain a Sustainable Supply Chain.
As a Senior Sourcing Manager, you will also be a guide, share your knowledge / experience and support other colleagues within the team in topics such as: Negotiations, Material Strategy, De-carbonizine our Supply Chain etc.
Your profile
You are a person, who has:
• Liking to steer and guide other Sourcing Managers in the team towards allocating sourcing tasks and follow-up on the same on time to time basis.
• Ability to identify and react on unexpected major deviations and understands all impact. Makes fast and clear decisions and communicates them cross-functionally.
• Good experience within Purchasing and you have a good track record both on commercial and technical levels.
• Skill to drive complex technical projects and long-term strategies.
• Passion for business and evaluate different commercial aspects. Able to be creative and understanding of business opportunities in Supply Chain and evaluate their commercial impact.
• A strong negotiator, and enjoy learning about technology and the business of your suppliers.
• Ability to support the Manager & the Management Team, with Team KPI Reports and points out areas for Continuous Improvement
• Liking to be part of De-carbonization Journey
• Good communication skills
To succeed in the role you need to be analytical and structured. You take your own initiative, can act decisively when needed, and have the capacity to handle multiple tasks in parallel. You are good at maintaining relationships and like to represent purchasing internally as well as to suppliers in a professional way. You are self-driven with high integrity and eager to contribute to the development of our team and the purchasing organization. To take on this role we see that you have:
• An academic degree in engineering, business, or similar.
• You also have atleast 8 to 9 years of experience in technical purchasing within automotive purchasing.
• Knowledge of Swedish is an advantage, and being fluent in spoken and written English is a requirement.
