Senior Strategy Advisor

Arbetsbeskrivning

Do you want to take part in shaping a fossil-free future?
If so, Vattenfall is looking for you
Vattenfall has made a strong commitment to make fossil-free living within one generation possible, and to help limit global warming to 1.5 degrees. We do this by supplying fossil-free and renewable electricity and heat to customers and communities across northern Europe, and by innovating with industry partners to deliver fossil-free products such as green steel and synthetic jet fuel. Our ambition is to have impact beyond our size.
In order to deliver on this bold ambition, we are looking to strengthen the strategy team at the corporate level (Group Strategy) with a Senior Strategy Advisor.
From a unique perspective in Vattenfall, close to the top management team, you will develop a deep understanding of our company’s business portfolio and how decisions are driven.
Serving as a thought leader, facilitator and champion of key strategic topics, you will support in translating the strategy into action, unlocking new business opportunities and ensuring our long-term sustainability and financial targets are met.
You will be part of a strong team with smart, driven and supportive colleagues, and work closely with senior executives and business leaders across Vattenfall.

The opportunity
As a Senior Strategy Advisor, you will help drive strategy development and implementation across Vattenfall, as well as identify and provide insight into key strategic topics. We see strategy development as a journey and a continuous dialogue, where the ability to connect to the bigger picture in specific problems, facilitate discussion to align different perspectives, and form an independent view based on experience and analysis, are key to success.
The Group Strategy team interfaces with a broad network of colleagues across Vattenfall – from strategy teams in our six Business Areas to experts in Finance, Procurement, R&D and other Staff Functions - with the ultimate goal to drive strategic topics through analysis, project work and workshop facilitation and together bring insightful decision material to the Executive Group Management (EGM) and the Board of Directors.
As a senior member of the Group Strategy Team, you will oversee projects and topics of strategic significance that require a portfolio perspective and broad understanding of market dynamics as well as the ability to quickly get up to speed in specific business or technical issues. You need to be able to empathize with stakeholders and find pragmatic solutions to organizational challenges the business is facing. Your role will include guiding and developing junior colleagues as well as building trust and drive collaboration with senior leaders and experts in the organization. Potential focus areas include decarbonization of the heat business, involving a complex transformation of the asset portfolio, and to ensure implementation of the strategy by strengthening the link between the Strategy and Finance functions, in topics such as capital allocation and target setting.

What you bring
1. 6-8 years of relevant experience, either as a management consultant or in a related industry in a role supporting business transformation or strategy development
2. A merit to have operational and business experience from the energy or related industry, with focus on strategy implementation and driving business results
3. Accomplished critical thinker with the ability to evaluate business opportunities, market data as well as making back-of-the-envelope calculations
4. Excellent communication skills and a compelling storyteller, comfortable in addressing executive management, topical experts and stakeholders with different backgrounds
5. Structured problem solver, skilled in analyzing and synthesizing complex problems
6. Fluency in English, both verbally, visually and in writing. Command of Swedish, German or Dutch is a plus
7. A record of leading large projects and international, dispersed teams
8. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect and engage across Vattenfall

Our offer
We offer a challenging and inspiring work environment where we believe in working with a purpose and having impact beyond our size and formal mandate. You will be working in diverse, international and interdisciplinary teams where you can count on support from committed colleagues. We believe in an open feedback culture and inclusive dialogue, where personal development and continuous learning is expected, allowing you to build a rewarding career within Vattenfall.
