The new multi brand studio, Geely Design Center Gothenburg, is a part of the multi-cultural global network of Geely Design studios dedicated to supporting the efforts of Geely Auto Group sub brands. Our Design Center in Gothenburg is the global headquarters for Geely Design and focuses on delivering great design for the two brands: Zeekr and Lynk & Co.
We are a fast-growing team of both creative and management professionals with the task of delivering exciting global products suitable for volume production and innovative concepts. In an inspiring studio environment, we build and maintain a top-class design team of multiple nationalities. We challenge preconceptions and deliver premium car design.
Assignment Description:
As Studio Engineer CMF Material specialist (Colour, Material, Finish), you will be an active link between Design, Engineering, Suppliers and Purchasing departments. You will work cross projects and cross functions from initial benchmarks and target settings through to industrialization. You will work very closely with CMF designers, but also with Engineering and suppliers, to develop new surface materials.
For this assignment you will work with plastics and NFPP in firsthand but also with metallic surfaces like PVD, Aluminum and Chromated surfaces. Developments in the Smart surface area may occur. Sustainability is a prioritized area, so a deeper understanding and knowledge in this is a must.
You will be developing strategies, ensuring our deliveries and plan our CMF development within Design. You are supporting the Design intent and you need to understand both the big picture and to be able to go into detailed discussions.
This is what you will do most of the time:
Support CMF development- and 3D Design with technical expertise
Perform Material and Supplier sourcing, and organize supplier meetings
Administrate the material looping with suppliers
Handle physical samples and documentation during development
Participate in Project Content discussions
Prepare- and follow up budget and time schedule for material development up to B-master delivery
Initiate- and document A and B-master handshake
Suitable experiences and background:
B.Sc. or M.Sc. engineering OR equivalent relevant experience
Experience of working with polymers and plastic materials
Deep knowledge in polymers, NFPP and Sustainability facts.
Ability to communicate explain the design intentions to various stakeholders
Fluent in English (writing and speaking)
