Vattenfall AB is looking for a Senior Sustainability and Compliance Officer with placement in Stockholm (Solna), Berlin, Amsterdam or Hamburg.
The function is placed within the Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM) Team of SF Sustainability consisting of 2 senior sustainability advisors, 3 temporary strategy analysts, the manager and the advertised positions (this one and 2 junior positions).
The SSCM team is expanding its responsibilities and will become a competence center performing (enhanced) due diligence on behalf of other units as part of the Vattenfall-wide counterparty screening process. The units that primarily need screening support as well as general support in the integration of sustainability are Staff Function (SF) Procurement (Goods & Services) and the Fuel sourcing units Business Area (BA) Markets, BA Heat and Business Unit Nuclear Fuel, ”,as well as SF Mergers & Acquisition and BA Customers & Solutions. In the counterparty screening process counterparties are scrutinized with regard to risk for money laundering, terrorism financing, lacking social and environmental responsibility etc. The team is also responsible for compliance with regulations and continuous improvement of the processes and ways or working, which includes tasks such as trainings, controls and the drafting of internal instructions.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Conduct Due Diligence and Enhanced Due Diligence by reviewing and approving counterparties, both at onboarding of the counterparties and as part of the ongoing monitoring of existing counterparties. Focus is administration (documentation, reporting and coordination) and continuous improvement of the processes and ways or working. The Officer is providing recommendations to the buyers, business managers and in more challenging cases to one of the decision boards like Procurement Sustainability Board and Responsible Sourcing Board
• Support with the implementation of the newly bought screening tool within the SSCM team and towards other units that will be using the screening tool, and be the administrative contact for the tool and keep the overview of performed enhanced due diligence work
• Support with creation of data management rules applicable to all data owners providing data into the tool
• Support with the creation and roll-out of training materials to units that need screening support
• Support in the development and creation of local guidelines e.g. for Goods & Services and Mergers & Acquisition based on the overarching Vattenfall Manage Counterparty Screening instruction
• Participate in activities related to the Sustainable Supply Chain Roadmap and other activities with the Sustainability team aimed at further develop and integrate sustainability into Vattenfall’s processes and activities
Requirements:
• A university degree in MBA, economics or law school
• 5-10 years’ compliance experience reviewing counterparties (suppliers/customers) is a must
• Knowledge of EU, UN, US, UK sanction processes and applicability is a strong merit
• Strong interest in sustainability (environmental, social and governance) topics and a willingness to develop in that area is highly valued
• A generally good understanding of how large companies operate is needed to drive the administrative processes, handle resistance and ‘bureaucracy’ aspects
• Excellent English skills are required
• Expertise in export regulations is a merit
• Change management experience is desirable
