Design is a crucial part in creating a brand and a product identity for the customer. The design of our cars is strongly influenced by our Scandinavian origins of elegance, function and the purity of lines as strong design elements. The Design department is a unit of 400 employees divided into one creative team and one operations team who closely work together to fulfil Volvo’s design requirements.  
Department 51240 within Design Operation UX, has the task that together with our design managers drive the user experience in the Volvo Cars Vehicle Programs. Both through supporting as project managers and creating software/hardware prototypes.

In your role as Senior System Engineer, you will be part of developing high fidelity software and hardware prototypes for verification purposes of Interaction concepts. This could either be in a concept car, test car, production cars or a rig. You will also develop software and hardware prototypes solutions for our concept cars. This work includes contacts with other engineering departments within Volvo and suppliers. As a Senior System Engineer, you are expected to manage your own area and have the ability to prioritize your deliveries.

Qualifications
M.Sc. Computer Engineering, Electrical or Mechatronics
Proficient in C/C++ and Python
Comfortable in working and configuring in Linux Environment
Design schematics/PCB for embedded systems preferably in KiCad, manufacture electrical circuits and soldering
Understanding and experience from creating cross-application communication solutions (involving SOME/IP, Can, Lin, FlexRay, MQTT, Protobuf, gRPC)
Version control systems, especially Git
Experience from UX development and frameworks such as Unreal Engine/Unity and Android are meritorious
Fluent in English
