Senior Systems Application Support Analyst – Windows platform (Remote/Virtual)

The Senior Systems Application Support Analyst is responsible for implementing software at a managed hosting provider. This individual will implement, troubleshoot and assist in problem resolution for a variety of software ranging from vendor products to internally built applications and act as a mentor to more junior Application Analysts. There is an on-call responsibility associated with this position for incident resolution and troubleshooting. This role can be based at the Intertek Houston office or remote/virtual arrangement is possible.
Responsibilities
· Maintain world-class application hosting in collaboration with a vendor.
· Implement tasks across internal and external resources.
· Provide hands-on analysis and administration for: Windows Server, IIS and database technologies.
· Administrative scripting with PowerShell, etc.
· Act as a mentor for junior Application Analysts
· Assist in analyzing application architecture and performance metrics, connectivity and design in the context of industry best practices.
· Work with the Hosting team to establish standard and application-specific monitors, regularly review reports, initiate change to address capacity and performance needs.
· Implement maintenance outages, software upgrades and patches, escalation of issues, scoping changes to existing arrangements and new needs.
· Analyze application security, interfaces, connectivity and technology to ensure internal standards are met.
· Work with other groups to consolidate and deploy procedures around application outages and changes.
· Help to support vendor change control processes, escalations and emergency needs.
· Document servers, capacity, future expansion and recoverable resources on a regular basis.
· Train internal and vendor staff on how to respond to software issues – application logs, web servers, database locking, etc.
· Capture, prioritize and resolve on-going issues.
· Provide 24x7 on call support for production environment on rotation and need basis.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
· At least 8 (eight) years of experience, with exposure to many areas of technology
· Strong knowledge of installing, supporting, and troubleshooting a broad range of applications, such as:
o Microsoft IIS
o Third party applications such as Cognos, O365, Sample Manager, Peoplesoft, Oracle Access & Identity Manager, and Business Intelligence applications
o Internal applications such as iEnable, SMART, GIS, Interlink
Strong knowledge of installing, supporting, and troubleshooting Windows Server operating systems (ie; 2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2014).
A broad understanding of and exposure to IT technologies, applications, best practices and processes is required. To include a combination of the following areas: n-tier application design, monitoring, software deployment, backups, LDAP integration, databases, high availability solutions, SAN technology, virtual hosting, and load balancing
· Hands-on software experience with 1 or more of the following: sendmail, IIS, LDAP, Radius, bind, clustering
· Hands-on experience with 1 or more of the following: XenAPP, Citrix Gateway, Receiver, StoreFront, and NetScaler from design through implementation in a virtualized environment
Hands-on experience with Active Directory, including Group Policy and DNS.
Ability to research technologies and issues to find problem root-causes
ITIL certification is a plus
Provide support after normal work hours when necessary

Preferred
Microsoft Certified Professional: Windows Server
Experience with Windows Server 2016.
Experience with Monitoring tools – Application Manager, AppDynamics, SCOM
ITIL Foundation certification
