Senior Technical Writer

Xylem is looking for a Senior Technical Writer who will develop and create technical documentation. In this role you will be responsible for making sure that installation manuals, user guides, quick guides, and text strings for software user interfaces are user friendly, informative and customer centric. You will be a part of the global Technical Documentation Group based in Sundbyberg, Stockholm.

You will be part of innovation projects and help produce documentation for our expanding range of software solutions. You will also work collaboratively with Product Development teams to create, write and develop product documentation for existing products throughout our global markets.

Responsibilities

* Coordinate the technical information development in new product development projects

* Analyze the technical information need
* List deliverables and contribute with time estimates to the overall time plan
* Be transparent and report to responsible parts on resource needs or risks of not delivering on time
* Assign tasks to dedicated resources within the content delivery team, and follow up on work progress

* Independently plan and develop content for reuse and reusability in accordance with the product risk analyses, subject matter expertise, and internal content development guidelines

* Analyze existing content
* Understand illustrations and their role in the documentation
* Perform software-assisted quality review of style, grammar, and terminology during the content development phase
* Perform peer review on markup and content
* Organize SME review to ensure technical accuracy

* Contribute to the development of the content management in collaboration with the documentation systems team

Qualifications

* Academic degree in engineering or technical communications
* 4 or more years of documented experience working with technical communication
* Excellent English grammar and writing skills
* Experience from producing software document is beneficial
* Project leader skills
* Professional experience of software development teams and Agile ways of working
* Experience and understanding of single sourcing of content in DITA XML and Component Content Management Systems (CCMS)
* Understanding or knowledge of foreign languages and basic illustration skills are advantageous
