About us
SEEL – Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory, a new test and research center for electrification, will open in the summer of 2023.

SEEL is co-owned and co-managed by Chalmers University of Technology, and RISE – Sweden’s research institute – working alongside the industrial partners we need to make the transition to electromobility a success.

We will offer test, research and verification on energy storage, electric machines, drivelines and complete vehicle testing. The equipment will be brand new and when we welcome our clients at the opening day. In Gothenburg they will meet a complete battery lab for testing cells, modules and packs, power electronics, charge function, electric machines. All this supported by on site workshops and offices.

We are now looking for a “Senior test cell engineer - batteries, power electronics and charging” who will be a key player in SEELs successful start of operation within the field of energy storage testing.

About the role
In the role as “Senior test cell engineer”, you will plan, prepare and support execution of the tests, evaluate and analyze date, before it is delivered to the customers. Expected operational and strategical tasks may be:

- Develop, maintain, and execute test methods
- Perform and support risk assessment related to electrical safety
- Maintain contact with the suppliers of laboratory equipment
- Keep the laboratory equipment up to date, to meet the future needs and act as an advisor on future investments
- Developing test automatization system in a way to optimize utilization
- Maintain all documentation needed in laboratory environment

SEEL is in an early phase which brings exciting new opportunities every week! We will need you as a mentor to transfer knowledge, guide and develop our future colleagues as we grow and recruit. You will be in daily contact with the management team of SEEL to build this company together!

The position is a permanent full-time employment. You report to the Director Energy Storage and your team will be in Gothenburg and Nykvarn. Your workplace will be in Gothenburg but occasional travel to other site may occur.

Please note that this position may mean that a security clearance is required, either later in this process or in the future.

Who are you?
We are looking for a “Senior test cell engineer” with at least a few years of experience of testing components or systems related to automotive industry. Your practical experience will be highly valued as well as your understanding of typical test objects and measurement techniques. Knowledge about in-vehicle communication protocols and test automation systems (like MORPHEE, PUMA or similar) and programming (Python, C++ or CAPL) is also needed to be successful in this role. Your educational background is within a field of electrical & electronics, mechanical engineering or equivalent. We communicate in Swedish or/and English, so you need to be fluent in at least one of the languages. However, good knowledge in English is a merit. Driving license B is mandatory.

As a person you are driven, eager to learn and an early adopter. You have an interest in developing yourself and others. We believe that you have a pedagogic approach to instruct both junior rig operators and customers. People around you see you as service minded with good communications skills, a team player with ability to work independently. We need you to be a flexible and agile problem-solver with the ability to work on different tasks at the same time. The careful and systematic approach is important. This will be essential in the start-up phase, but also a success factor for the future. This position may be subject to a security review, during the recruitment process or later in the future.
