About
At Roboten, we are developing low-code tools making it possible for anyone to create internal applications or fully-fledged services scaling to millions of users, remarkably fast. We are currently 20+ developers and have been working on our products for the last 12 months. As we are approaching a new growth phase fueled by venture capital, we are looking for a skilled UI Designer who wants to be part of our journey.
We set out to build something that fundamentally would change app development. The Roboten platform will not only simplify the process of developing applications but will also enhance the collaboration between designers and developers. We are of the firm belief that designers should be in charge of how the final product looks and feel.
About the position
As a Senior UI Designer at Roboten, you will be responsible for the look and feel of our applications. We truly believe in the importance of UI and how it enhances the experience for the user. We want you to share our philosophy and never let the UI take the back seat when developing applications.
At Roboten, we are creating what we call creative apps, meaning applications where our customers, who are designers and programmers, are designing and modeling their applications. It’s a hybrid of designer tools that resemble Figma and Adobe XD while other parts look like Airtable. They are rather complex in nature, but at the same time, we want to make the complex simple.
This is a senior role, and therefore it is important that you, as a designer, like this type of challenge and have experience from designing more complex applications in the past. We want you to become our design hero.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, creating UI concepts, wireframes, mocks, templates, and prototypes that are implemented across our applications and platforms. You will be the owner and responsible for the UI for one or several applications.
You will focus on designing interfaces and templates by finding the optimal solutions to ensure a stunning experience for all users. The design challenges are fun and creativity and innovation are always encouraged. In the end, you’ll be responsible for setting the final touches on the Roboten platform.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Work closely with a fun and skilled team of designers, developers, testers, and project managers to create awesome web apps.
- Advocate for user-centered design solutions.
- Iterate, prototype, and test your designs to come up with solutions that’ll be loved by users.
- Work on the tiny details of the app UI, such as iconography, typography, illustrations, fades, and animations.
- Taking design briefs to understand requirements and translating them into attractive user interfaces.
- Take responsibility for your design process and own your own projects. You always make sure to push your own work forward.
- Be responsible for creating and maintaining UI kits for the applications you are the owner of.
We hire the best
We’re aiming high, and that’s where you come in. Our team consists of world-class engineering, design, and product technologists. Because we know that the key to success isn’t just about nailing the technology - it’s hiring talented people, like you, that will help us make a significant impact.
About you
As a UI Designer, you’re not only interested in the look of the buttons, you also care about the complete user experience. You are a designer with a strong feeling of color, form, and composition. You are passionate about contemporary trends, dreaming about the brand's next steps, and at the same time taking all this and turning it into well-crafted visuals and UI that inspire yourself and our organization.
To be successful in the role as UI Designer, we think you:
- Have a solid portfolio of projects and a good knowledge of UI design.
- Have 3+ years of experience working with the UI of SaaS apps.
- Have experience working with advanced creative or modeling apps such as Soundtrap, Soundnation, Adobe Premiere Pro, SketchUp, IDEs, workflow tools, process tools, or similar software or tools that are complex.
- Know your way in and out of Figma or Adobe XD.
- Have a well-developed sense of visual aesthetics.
- Are familiar with design processes.
- Are able to apply interaction and communication design to your work.
- Are confident in analyzing the design specs.
- Are interested in typography and iconography.
- Have some UX skills.
- Have great communication skills, since you will hold one of the most important roles and collaborate with the entire software development team.
