Senior UX Designer

About the Team

We (👋) in the Storytel CORE tech team are building the core reading experience in our product, whether it is listening to audiobooks, to reading eBooks. 🎧 We own everything from the ones-and-zeros of audio processing to delighting our users with a fantastic player experience in the apps as they gently fall asleep. 💤 (https://emojipedia.org/zzz/) We are operating in a very competitive segment and need to innovate to disrupt the status quo and create the world’s best audiobook streaming, and eBook reading experience. 🚀 That’s why we are looking for an amazing UX designer, who can join our current designers in delivering a fantastic experience across the board.

About the Role

What will you do? Everything! 😁 You will, of course, take ownership of design in projects across the entire product lifecycle, from initial problem discovery and exploration, through conceptualization, implementation, and delivery of a beautifully designed user interface. 📲

To accomplish this, you’ll collaborate with our Users, Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, and Data Analysts to define problems, requirements, and goals. Identify customer needs, produce wireframes, prototypes, and refine designs based on data and user feedback.

You will also actively engage in our design organization, collaborating with other designers to maintain design consistency and cohesiveness across different platforms and products.

About You

We are looking for a true unicorn, the one they say doesn’t exist. A design-thinking driven senior UX researcher, that has that particular talent for UI design - the art of bringing emotion into the mix, and that enjoys both challenges.

You would have no problems starting from scratch, doing qualitative and quantitative research, and then take the problem from clear insights and functional wireframes to an emotional, colorful, and beautiful expression in our apps.

Taking an idea and seeing it through to the very end. You accomplish this by putting the user first and base your decisions on user insight, data, and business requirements. This helps you to create a balance between visual aesthetics and functionality of the product, being able to add just the right amount of emotion and beauty to something that’s accessible and delightful to use.

To be successful in this role we believe that you have

‍💻At least 5 years of experience as a UX designer in product development, fluent in at least one well-known wireframing and prototyping tool, and can back this up with a beautiful portfolio

️At least 5 years of experience building beautiful and expressive user interfaces and can show it

At least 5 years of experience designing for mobile devices, on either the Android or iOS platform (but preferably both) and are intimate with guidelines for mobile development

🇧Excellent writing and speaking skills in English

And for some bonus points:

- You have knowledge of UI
- Leadership or coaching experience
