User Experience as a discipline is a key part of Volvo Cars' strategy and the UX organisation, which celebrated its two-year anniversary in April 2022, helps gather insights about our users and redefines and elevates the users experience of Volvo's products and Services.
We are seeking a Senior Visual UX Designer to expand our System UI team, the group of designers responsible for researching, defining, and overseeing the implementation of the core infotainment system for all Volvo cars.
What you will do
As a Senior Visual Designer in the Car UX team, you will work on researching, defining, prototyping and building safe and effortless experiences for our users as well as contributing to the visual language and strategy for our car experience. Your responsibilities will include delivering design artifacts, such as visual concepts, production-ready designs, assets, animations, and prototypes that balance design aesthetics with intuitiveYou will collaborate with other designers and ensure a seamless customer experience across Volvo’s digital landscape. And as part of a product team, you will communicate designs, ideas, and rationale with your team using data and customer insights.
As a designer you advocate for the user, you will develop a deep understanding of our customer needs and pain-points, serving as an expert for your product team and developing ideas for new and enhanced features.
Who you are
We believe you have been designing digital experiences for 6+ years for a consumer-focused tech company, which has given you a deep understanding of what it takes to create elegant, consumer-oriented experiences. You are a versatile designer who uses a full range of skills— visual design from conceptual to production level, motion design, prototyping — to ensure you deliver magical experiences to the customer. Specifically:
* You have excellent design skills with tools such as Figma or Adobe software, well as excellent prototyping and/or motion design skills using tools like Protopie, Principle, After Effects or similar.
* You have a strong understanding of building and maintaining design libraries or systems, as well as components.
* You understand when consistency in design systems empowers teams and allows for scalable solutions but you also recognize when congruence triumphs consistency.
* You are a strong collaborator, who can work not only with design partners, but many other stakeholders, from marketing to engineering.
* You’re a strong communicator. Who can inspire teams towards action and empathy for the user.
* You have a people-focused design mentality, constantly looking to hone your design instinct through user feedback.
* You focus on people and hence you are passionate about elegant information design that solves people’s needs, not only technology constraints.
