Senior Writer and Cultural Consultant

Position Summary
The Senior Writer and Cultural Consultant will be tasked with cinematic, lore, and gameplay dialogue. A strong writing background is required for this position as we’ll be exploring emergent and non-linear story-telling devices. The Senior Writer and Cultural Consultant will work in partnership with the Experience Owner for Story and Missions, to determine narrative, lore, dialogue, and VO needs, as well as with the Art Director and Advisory Circle to consult on the cultural tone and authenticity of the game. They will work cross-discipline with other writers, designers, and artists to develop a high-quality narrative AAA gameplay experience.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Game Director to understand the game direction and effectively convey it through the game narrative;
Design and write the overall game narrative, in collaboration with other writers;
Create an emotional gameplay experience that remains consistent to the game’s creative vision;
Collaborate with other game writers and narrative designers to design, develop, and implement narrative gameplay elements;
Advise on cultural authenticity and meaning-making across all relevant disciplines within the project;
Other duties as assigned



Position Requirements
7+ years of writing experience;
A knowledge of and passion for game storytelling;
Experience writing dialogue and cinematics;
Ability to author compelling stories, vivid and memorable characters, and engaging dialogue;
Perfect knowledge of spoken and written English;
Knowledge of Malay (strongly preferred) and Hokkien Chinese (preferred);
Significant experience living and working in the Malacca Strait region and/or degreed in a subject related to Southeast Asian cultural studies and/or experience with working with past projects set in this region (i.e. a novel, film or game);
Excellent organizational and project management skills;
Maintains reliable data integrity;

Ability to multi-task and understand directions and priorities;
