Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
Scania’s R&D leadership have identified six areas of strategic importance to the future of the organization. One of these areas is Human Factors. To fulfil the Human Factors strategic roadmap, Scania’s Research Office is seeking to recruit an experienced Service Designer that can support the shift towards a systems-oriented approach to interaction and user experience design.
Who we are
Research & Innovation is responsible to drive, coordinate and communicate research and innovation within R&D. The department is responsible for Scania's internal strategy and process. R&I office also supports the line organisation with external research funding and academia and industrial partnership.
Work Assignment
Scania develops a range of products with which various users interact. Interaction Designers, Services Designers, Ergonomists, and a variety of other expertise related to the user experience are distributed to product teams throughout the organization. For the current assignment, a key role will be to investigate and support research initiatives that impact users across these different product development groups.
You will support in understanding how our users interact with a variety of transport system related products and to design solutions that optimize overall system performance considering safety, efficiency, sustainability, as well as the quality of the user interaction. You will be expected to take a Service Design approach to designing solutions for the human role in future transport systems.
Your Profile
You have a master’s degree in Interaction Design, Product Design, Service Design, or a similar discipline. Practical experience applying service design methods is required. You also have experience with complex projects (‘wicked problems’) involving multiple stakeholders where you have contributed to, and at times, lead the design work. Most important is that you have a passion for designing solutions to improve the user experience. Experience or interest in the transport sector is preferred, so too and an interest in emerging technologies.
