You will be given the opportunity to develop li-ion battery modules, packs and systems as well as being a part of building one of the first European large-scale lithium-ion battery factories.
We are looking for a System Simulation Engineer who combines technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively.
You will work in a newly formed team, under development, together with committed engineers and you will collaborate across engineering teams and disciplines. We are looking for people who are innovate and love solving complex problems. You will work hard, have fun, and of course, make history!
You will apply your extensive computational physics knowledge by performing everything from analytical hand calculations to large multi-physics system simulations, from cell to system level. You have a good amount of industrial experience in the field and have been working in large, innovative, and challenging projects with high demands on functionality, robustness, and design.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for conceptualizing, building, maintaining, and operating the battery multi-physics system simulation models.
Work with development and execution of battery design optimization through complete multi-physics system modeling.
Create 1D system modelling and analytical calculations on parts and systems of our product portfolio, from cell level to module level and up to full system level at an early design stage for concept verification and development.
You will, on a multi-domain level, connect areas of physics such as electrical engineering, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics for linear and non-linear systems.
Support our development projects with your expertise.
Actively participate in test planning and evaluation of test data and be responsible of using test data to validate and verify the simulation models.
Set up analysis methodologies with respect to multi-physics system simulations.
Participate in design reviews and include your findings to create a better product.
Present your findings to internal/external stakeholders to improve the design.
Collaborate with other engineering teams for system optimization, and you will be open to new proposals and have a problem-solving attitude.

The person we are looking for is strongly goal oriented, curious, and eager to learn. You will get the chance to have a real impact on our success story and see the results of your work. Our organization requires and values great self-discipline, commitment and drive and possess a natural talent to make things happen. The System Simulation Engineer is a vital member of the Northvolt Systems Simulation Team and a key to Northvolt’s mission to enable the future of energy.
In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large-scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.
