Simulation Engineer- Fuel Economy and Energy Efficiency

The Department Environment and Fluid Dynamics Centre is responsible for the Core Value Environment at Volvo Car's R&D and has about 100 employees. The departments responsibility include 6 attributes; Fuel Economy, Environmental, Weight Management, Thermodynamics, Aerodynamics, Contamination and Climate Control. Section Fuel Economy Strategy and Requirement deliveries range from cycle plan input, technical input into development of next generation's CO2 simulation platform and CO2 fleet impact analysis. The section works closely together with the project Fuel Economy team responsible for CO2 program implementation as well as with powertrain, electrical, chassis, attribute areas aero and weight, product planning and market organisation.

Today we focus on Hybrid Electric Vehicles and Battery Electric Vehicles - What can we do more to decrease CO2? As Simulation Engineer, you will be involved in the team's responsibilities to develop Volvo Car Group's virtual tool (VSIM) for vehicle simulation concerning Fuel Economy and Energy Efficiency. The team is working closely with other departments during the development of the tool. You will also perform virtual verification in the car programs, support the team in requirement setting process, and be involved in different projects to identify solution to decrease CO2.

Main responsibilities

* Support the VSIM core team and users throughout Volvo with service, but also development and improvement of the simulation tool
* Model development and programming
* Analysis and implementation of control algorithms for new technology
* Perform simulations for ongoing projects
* Monitor system use and improve the user interface

Required qualifications

* MSc or equivalent of Science within relevant area
* Good knowledge in MATLAB and SIMULINK, at least 3 years' experience of modelling
* Good knowledge of basic physics and automotive systems
* Programming competence
* English, spoken and written
* Good knowledge in MS office
