The Essence of the Role
We are looking for a driven and experienced Site Reliability Engineer to come join our team to work in the area of Real-Time Communication. Our team serves customers all over the world with cloud-based real-time voice- and video communication solutions, as well as phone number verification methods. The real-time aspects of our products combined with global availability of our services means interesting challenges for an SRE.
As an SRE on our team, you will be involved in a wide variety of challenging projects and will be responsible for enhancing and extending our infrastructure with the goal of moving changes to production faster and safer, while ensuring operational best practices are supported within given timelines. In the role you will work closely with our product development teams, ensuring we build new services and adjust existing ones with the right reliability, scalability and maintainability.
You will be an SRE with software developer experience on the team, hands on, writing software. You will be focused on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating repetitive work through automation.
As a person you are self-going, collaborative, dependable, and loves problem solving.
Role Tasks
Act as a bridge between product, operations and development teams; understand the priorities and concerns of each, and help set appropriate requirements, including SLAs, SLIs and SLOs
Improve system reliability, through the use of monitoring, alerting, automation and documentation
Increase developer productivity by building innovative tools that reduce maintenance overhead
Share your knowledge and experience to help other developers increase their knowledge in how to operate and scale a platform successfully
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related technical discipline
Production level experience in at least one high-level command-line interface-written code language (Java, C/C++, Go , etc.), and at least one dynamic language (Ruby, Python, Node.js)
Advanced experience in at least one of the following: networking, Linux/Unix administration, systems programming, distributed systems databases, cloud computing
Proven capability and work in automation and data-driven analysis
Experience and proficiency with server clusters, load balancing, monitoring
Experience working with infrastructure as code
Experience with at least one cloud provider, such as AWS, Google Cloud platform
Experience in container technology, such as Docker, Kubernetes, or CoreOS Rkt
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal (English)
