Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
Global Industrial Development (DB) is responsible for strengthening and developing of Scania’s joint expertise in engineering, quality as well as Industrial IT within Production and Logistics. The Smart Factory Lab (SFL) is an innovation arena with focus on adapting, evaluating and sharing technologies that will increase Scania’s productivity as well as improve product quality, safety and ergonomics. The team consists of engineers from production and IT, focusing on both research, development and deployment. Examples of technologies that have been or are tested in the lab are virtual and augmented reality, assembly and logistic automation, Internet of Things, advanced analytics and computer vison. The smart factory team works with both assembly, machining, maintenance and logistics and consider user experience as well as sustainability. The Smart Factory team is growing and will take a more active role in competence development within Scania and also for deploying the technologies that have showed promising results in the lab
Job description
As an Engineer for operation and project implementation, your main task is to work in the operational team of the Smart Factory Lab. By working in this role you need to:
Drive piloting and deployment activities and projects of promising technologies in production units that create added value to the customer.
Leading global knowledge transfer activities
General understanding of Scania Industrial operations : visit the production units, do go and see with the internal customers to understand their needs and work hand in hand with them
Participate in the Decision forums (Engineering, Quality, Product Introduction, Logistics etc.) to collect input needs as well as to present status of the projects and activities in the SFL and eventually, ask for prioritisation;
Map events like congress, fairs etc. (both internal and external) related to technology, digitalisation and automation that may provide competence to the production units and spread the information about them internally at Scania
Take care of the governance within SFL in Södertälje and its counterparts in other Scania production sites around the world as well as SFL within Traton group.
Your profile
In order to do your tasks, you have a MSc within Engineering and a great interest in new technologies. You need to have an Industrial background with some years’ experience as well as project management competence. You need to be passionate about automation and digitalisation and their application in the business to improve productivity, quality and ergonomics. As a person you are positive, structured, organized and have extensive communication skills. Furthermore you are open-minded and used to work in teams. You are fluent in English, both spoken and written. Swedish is an advantage. It will help you a lot if you have an extensive network within Scania as well as suppliers and researchers.
