Are you a curious person with a creative mind and a passion for social media and engaging the many people? Then you might be the Social media specialist IKEA is looking to welcome to its global Media Relations and Newsdesk Team in Älmhult, Sweden, where IKEA design and develop its entire range.
IKEA of Sweden AB is a core unit responsible for developing and determining the IKEA range, which will meet customers all over the world. IKEA of Sweden is based in Älmhult – the heart of IKEA and the centre of IKEA range development and supply chain.
The Media Relations and Newsdesk Team work in a global context with both planned and unplanned content for social media, editorial and PR. The team has a central role in identifying stories and angles, developing content, and sharing communication around how the IKEA core businesses within range and within supply, develops and supplies the products. We support the business and all IKEA markets with proactive content, incoming requests and advice when IKEA is being challenged.
We are now looking for a copy-editing Social media specialist to join our team and work globally.
Job Description
We are expanding the global social media team at IKEA responsible for activating and managing the new global social media landscape for IKEA (YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn + future channels). We’re on an exciting journey of trying new formats and ways of communicating. In this role, you'll bring best practice from your experience and the ability to translate learnings into actions.
As a Social media specialist, you’d be responsible for developing copy to create engagement and growing the following of these new channels, helping IKEA connect and interact with more of the many people.
More specifically, in this role, you will:
Develop ideas on how to bring content to life on each channel, setting main messages and deciding on formats to create interest/engagement/interaction with audiences together with content owners.
Participate in planning forums and help content owners understand how to use the new social channels to reach their goals.
Execute posts with best-in-class IKEA tone of voice.
Support the team in creating content calendars for each channel, bringing together planned, anticipated and responsive content.
Prepare reports, presentations and key findings to relevant stakeholders.
Tap into discussions about IKEA on social media and engage with our followers and large scale community management.
Support crisis management efforts by adapting and using existing messages.

Qualifications
You are down-to-earth, straightforward and curious. You want to develop the IKEA business and yourself. You can understand the complexity of the IKEA business and see communication as an integrated part of the business. You have a passion for social media and get energy from working together.
You also have a combination of the following knowledge, capabilities and motivation:
We are looking for a person with world-class publishable English copy editing/writing skills with a strong willingness to learn about working with social media. Better yet, if you’re a senior copywriter gone social media expert – that's what we're looking for! A combination of these skills is highly advantageous.
5+ years of copy editing/writing at an agency, large international brand or similar. You understand how to communicate complex messages in short and impactful ways.
Some knowledge and experience working with social media tools (management tools, listening tools etc.) as well as with Facebook Business Manager.
Some experience of working with some paid social advertising (Google Ads, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn).
An interest and passion for social media and the opportunities it presents for reaching & interacting with audiences in new ways, and an interest in staying up to date on the latest developments and best practices.
You appreciate a good team; you enjoy working as a member of one or more cross-business / cross-functional teams and have a prestige-less approach to projects.
