Student Support Educator/Social Pedagog

The purpose of a student support educator at IES Årsta is to maintain and promote the IES ethos of a calm and safe learning environment and ‘tough love’ by fostering a culture of respect and positivity among the students.

The responsibilities and duties include: 

- On a daily basis support the school's discipline ladder through responding to daily events, investigations, parent meetings and follow up documentation.
- Organises and promotes positive break time activities with students during student breaks and class transitions to promote positive behaviour throughout the school. 
- Provides the communication link between the Heads of School, mentors, and the student care team regarding daily student wellbeing and daily events.
- Manages the on-call phone and supports teachers with maintaining a calm and safe classroom as needed. 
- Supports calmness and order outside of the classroom by being an active presence throughout the school day by actively promoting the schools Right and Responsibilities document. 
- Role models and demonstrates appropriate individual student interventions and conversations and both encourages and guides school staff to use these independently with students in line with the IES ethos.
