Social Safeguards Specialist

We help our clients, mainly multilateral development banks, to ensure environmental and social safeguards and mitigation measures in their development and infrastructure projects in developing countries, currently focused on Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Afghanistan.


The main tasks of the Social Safeguards Specialist will be to:


Assist in the implementation of projects and assignments, including collection and analysis of data, preparing draft reports and materials (mainly on subjects of social, resettlement and environmental safeguards, gender and development, as per the clients’ needs), and coordination with the international clients and partners,


Assist in managing contracts with the sub-contractors in the target countries, monitoring the projects and assignments' progress and the sub-contractors performance, visits to the projects sites and interviewing the project beneficiaries and affected persons, as needed (subject to COVID-19 restrictions),


Assist in preparing expressions of interests and technical offers to the bids announced by multilateral development banks and international development organizations, search suitable sub-contractors and NGOs in the target developing countries; coordinate with them in preparing bid proposals and implementing the assignments,


Assist in developing a business network with government agencies in the target countries in particular in Central Asia, Caucasus, and Afghanistan,


Service-minded and results-oriented, willing to try new roles and tasks for self-development, and well completion of projects/assignments.


Requirements:


University Degree;
Work experience and good knowledge of social and environmental safeguards policies and standards of the multilateral banks (e.g. ADB, WB, EBRD).


Respect the culture and values, follow the rules and regulations in the countries of assignments, and corporate rules of the clients; demonstrate high professional integrity in the work and relations with the clients, sub-contractors, and projects beneficiaries,


Be able to travel for assignments to the beneficiary countries, visits to projects sites (subject to COVID-19 restrictions).


Good knowledge of the English language required. Good knowledge of the Russian and Persian/Dari languages is desired.
