The section of Safety Electronics has been a rapidly growing part of Volvo Car Group over the last decade. Active Safety is an area where Volvo, through continuous launching of new and innovative and world first safety features, has positioned itself among the leaders of the automotive industry. Within the section we develop systems such as Collision Avoidance, Autonomous Drive, Full Automatic Parking, Driver Support and Protective Safety.

As Software Architect you will be a part of the group Safety Electronics Architecture within Safety Electronics which has the mission to develop the next generation active safety system. We are involved in all aspects of the product development process, from early research and advanced engineering projects to industrialisation of the systems. Your responsibility is to focus on managing and securing the development of the software architecture in the Active Safety system. The area of Active Safety domain nodes is a rapidly growing technology branch. Therefor it is of importance to stay tuned with latest technical achievements within the industry.

Main responsibilities

* Manage development of the software architecture in the domain nodes within the Active Safety domain
* Design software architecture that fulfils the requirements from the hardware and software platform and software components from both internal and external suppliers
* Plan implementation of software architectural design in close cooperation with the software component design engineers
* Develop design specifications of the software architecture design on both high and detailed level
* Participate and contribute to technical design reviews, both internal reviews and supplier reviews
* Contribute to build-up of experience, by participation in the development of technology strategies within the area of competence

Required qualifications

* M.Sc. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics or similar
* Experience of software architecture design development in complex embedded systems
* Experience of AutoSar and ISO26262
* Experience of LINUX/QNX systems
* Experience of software design both modelbased and non modelbased
* Experience from structured work in a structured development process
* Experience of managing suppliers in an international environment
* Excellent English skills, both verbally and in writing
* Driver's licence
* Knowledge of Volvo Base Technologies (SWDL, Diagnostics, NWM etc) is meritorious
* Experience from working in requirement management tools such as System Weaver, Elektra or DOORS is meritorious
