Software Architect, application software for energy management, powertrain control and autonomous functions
As a member of the team governing the powertrain control technology stream you will have the possibility to contribute to the work with software taking Volvo heavy duty powertrains into the future. As an application software architect you will have the responsibility of leading and guiding architectural work for the software controlling longitudinal control in autonomous vehicles, fuel efficiency functions based on predictive data, gear selection, launch functions and shifting in conventional- and electrified transmissions. Sounds interesting? Then keep on reading!
This is us, your new colleagues
Within the scope of the technology stream Powertrain Control conventional functionality such as shifting, clutch control and cruise co-exist with modern functions like automation and predictive functions to build a common application platform going into the future. New challenges ahead also requires introducing more functions for electrified transmissions and connect end user functions over a wider range of driveline technologies. Software is mainly developed in-house and the team is setup in a cross functional way where system, function design, software implementation, test, calibration and verification of our product are all within the team’s responsibility and control.
Our workspace is on the entrance floor of BC, the building where it all started 1927, in the center of the Lundby area in Gothenburg. The team is located in an open work environment where each team member are empowered to drive the technology forward. Sometimes the discussions and local decisions are taken in the fika-area where time are spent every day. We strive towards diversity, equality and inclusiveness.
What you will do

You will be part of a team of system engineers leading the technology stream work and defining the roadmap for our software deliveries. In this team you will bring leading expertise in Software architecture and are expected to lead architecture work within the teams. Synchronization with the agile release train roadmap, representatives from the development teams and the vision of the product is key for the complete deliveries from the train. Your work should result in easy to understand documentation for everyone to use and follow in daily work.
