Traction Battery Software (TBSW) is a part of the department of Battery & Charging Controls. The department commits to delivering products with high quality and with ownership that lies within the development teams in each Agile Release Train (ART). TBSW’s main focus is to develop and deliver a robust Battery SW platform for the next generation of hybrid and electrical vehicles.
What’s in it for You?
To support the new strategy with an aggressive plan for Electrification, Volvo Cars is currently moving to in-house development of key software components. You will be part of a system team that takes the overall responsibility for the Battery Management System. As an SW architect, you support the implementation planning for SW development as well as provide a high-level software development road map.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will be a part of an agile team that works to secure that the prerequisites needed for the SW development teams are in place, by guiding them with your expertise in software architecture and best practices in the area.
The team consists of skilled engineers with deep knowledge in different areas such as System Safety, HV-system design, Diagnostics and SW Architecture. The team is defining the functionality and architecture of the SW, setting the framework for the SW development teams to develop and enhance the different functions of the battery. You will work with software architecture design and deployment strategy and ensure that we create the prerequisites to produce software that fulfills applicable standards, is maintainable, scalable and adaptable.
You and Your Skills
We expect you to have a degree in computer science or equivalent, with experience in software development and software engineering. You have worked with hands-on writing code and/or working with model-based development and you also have experience working as a SW architect. You have experience working with embedded software, and of course, you are also fluent in English (written and spoken).
It is meritorious if you have experience/knowledge of information security standards such as ISO27000 and ISO21434. Previous experience/knowledge in functional safety (ISO26262) and the automotive industry, in general, is also considered a merit. Experience with HV systems and HV batteries, in particular, is also very useful.

Since collaboration, knowledge sharing, and guiding people is key in this role it is important that you enjoy working with others in a team/cross-functional environment. You are proactive and persistent in achieving goals and know when to be flexible in order to achieve those goals.
