What’s in it for you?
We are looking for a Software- / Data Engineer to join our Propulsion & Climate Labs at Volvo Cars Headquarters in Gothenburg. Are you ready to take the lead on designing future architecture of pre- and post-test handling of large amount of data within propulsion testing? As well as working with the opportunities of software development and -integration in our propulsion test environments? Then the role as Software- / Data Engineer within the Data Team is the place for you to prosper.
Propulsion & Climate Labs is Volvo Cars’ center for testing of propulsion systems, in complete vehicle as well as on component level. We operate and develop propulsion test facilities for vehicles, drivelines, electric motors, batteries, electronics, and transmissions, as well as aerodynamic and climatic testing. The laboratory work includes hardware- and software preparation of testing, test execution and processing of measurement data. We also develop and build new test facilities.
To meet the future, we need to utilize great tools and methods to test and verify next generation cars in an efficient and correct manner.
What you’ll do
The Data Team handles a broad scope including development and operations of data management systems, KPIs, data post-processing, data specifications, various software tools and planning systems. The work includes complex systems and architectures with the aim of increasing automation, efficiency, and quality in the field of propulsion systems testing.
Depending on your specific skillset and interests you will, together with colleagues and suppliers, set the foundation for a reliable and extensible data management system and data processing architecture (ELT) and create and visualize performance metrics (KPIs) for the Propulsion & Climate Labs’ deliveries. Furthermore, continuous development and improvement of our data analysis methods and tools will be an important task.
You will keep up to date with the latest trends and techniques concerning our current and future area of operation as well as promote smart data analysis and handling methods.
In this role you will have the opportunity to build a broad network within R&D and the Laboratory.
You and your skills
You are a curious and self-going Data & Software Engineer with a deep knowledge in handling large amount of data. You have an M.Sc. in Mathematical-, Physics-, Computer Engineering or equal experience and a few years of experience of data or software engineering.
You have good experience from Python programming. Previous experience of programming in C# or Elixir and testing work is meritorious.
You will need knowledge in PowerBI, DevOps, Git, CI/CD, and Sympathy for Data. Knowledge of systems such as Linux, containers, Azure/cloud, databases and SharePoint is meritorious.
Experience from electrical motor/transmission development/manufacturing or other areas of automotive engineering. Knowledge in agile way of working (SAFe) is meritorious.
On a personal level, you are comfortable making your own decisions and appreciate the freedom to take required actions on own initiative. You have an analytical- and solution-based mindset, that empowers your ability to draw technical conclusions out of complex systems. You are cooperative by nature and bring out the best in others. You possess great communications skills, a genuine interest in technology and are motivated by constantly learning and improving both yourself and your scope.
