Software Developer, Backend

We are looking for software developers to join our backend team.
Annotell is a fast-growing start-up with a mission to build the best possible data annotation platform for teams creating autonomous vehicles. We are still a small team looking to extend with more teammates in our office in Gothenburg.

The backend team is responsible for a wide variety of features related to data annotation, from ingestion of complex sensor data to providing tools for configuring, tracking and operating annotation projects. Another feature area that we’re exploring is related to automatic quality assurance of annotations. In order to enable this feature we need to be able to compute, aggregate, index and visualize KPIs in an efficient manner.

We also see a growing need to enable more API integrations with customers, allowing them to interact with our platform in a more automated way. We’re looking for someone that can help us in developing a scalable solution for API integrations that allows for client customization without having to “reinvent the wheel” for each new client.

Our stack

The majority of our services are built with Scala, and we use Python for developing libraries, API clients and internal tooling. Our Tools App for managing annotation projects is developed in Typescript and React. The complete solution is delivered using Kubernetes on Google Cloud. For data storage we use a combination of Postgres, ElasticSearch and Google Cloud Storage / Amazon S3.

Who you are

You have some experience with distributed systems and are well versed in relevant system architecture and design patterns. Previous experience using Scala or any other functional programming language is beneficial, but as long as you know any type of JVM based language you should be fine. We hope you have a few years of experience working with public APIs and backend systems.
