Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.
Software in loop Framework – Let’s introduce ourselves!
We are a group of software developers, automotive engineers, data scientists, physicists, and generally fun and interesting people from around the world who enjoy working together to create the best-in-class simulation environment for autonomous drive (AD) and advanced drive assistance systems (ADAS). Our group Software-in-the-loop Environments is part of the R&D organization Safe Vehicle Automation (SVA), which is responsible for all AD/ADAS and vehicle control software which run on Volvo Cars’ vehicles. Our tools are used across the organization to test, verify, and validate software and ensure we deliver the safest cars on the market.
What you’ll do
You will contribute as a developer to our agile SCRUM team, working together on user stories in our backlog, which the team has full ownership of. The work is focused around developing simulation tools and integration of software components and models from both internal and external suppliers. The core integration Team is responsible for the development of the software integration framework, which links all our simulation environments to the software under test and to the continuous integration (CI) test framework. We mainly work in C++, the framework is built upon a commercial implementation of the Data Distribution Service (DDS) standard and is built to be used by all teams developing software at SVA. You will collaborate closely with these teams and promote early and continuous testing. You will be responsible for the quality of your work, but the team is together responsible for all deliveries.
What you’ll bring
You are a team player who is always looking for opportunities to learn and improve yourself and the team. You can communicate clearly, take responsibility for your work, and build trust with colleagues and customers. You enjoy solving loosely defined problems and embrace ambiguity and change as part of your work.
To thrive in this role, we believe you should have at least:
An M.Sc. in fields such as Physics, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering degree, or equivalent work experience
Experience with software development and testing in C++
And it’s a bonus if you have:
Experience with DDS/ROS2
Experience with OpenScenario and OpenDrive
Experience with closed-loop
Experience with HIL
