Ready to shape tomorrow’s society together with us?
Are you a curious engineer with product development experience and background within software development? Do you want to be a part of the transformation within the transport industry to create something safer, more productive and with less environmental impact? Then this is the position for you!
This is what we do at Volvo Autonomous Solutions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-TOCGC6Uuc
This is how you can make an impact
As software developer in Vehicle Controls you will take on the task of developing control logic and interfaces in a real-time environment with requirements on both performance and safety for autonomous driving, of both machines and trucks.
Our software include functionality for switching between different external control sources such as automated driving and teleoperation. Our software also acts as an abstraction layer for the different types of vehicles e.g., trucks and machines. This provides the external control sources with all the needed information from the vehicle in a commonly agreed format. The work will cover all stages from prototyping software, requirement development, SIL/HIL/Vehicle verification to final production code verification.
This is us, your new colleagues at Volvo Autonomous Solutions (V.A.S.)
We are yet a small but passionate and effective team that is stronger than the sum of its parts and ready to tackle the challenges we have ahead of us. We are now looking for a new colleague to join us in our endeavor to create customer solutions that enhance safety, flexibility, and productivity for the role as software developer.
Your new team, the Vehicle Control & Motion Model within the V.A.S. Technology organization, is responsible for the vehicles in V.A.S. autonomous customer solutions. The vehicle types include machines, trucks, trailers and safety systems. It is our responsibility to ensure that the vehicles can be operated by the end user in an efficient and safe manner. Together with Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE) and Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT) we interact closely to secure base machine and truck readiness. We take part in all life cycle phases, from the early specification and development phases throughout the maintenance and quality phases during customer operation.
Who are you?
In situations of uncertainties and ambiguity your problem-solving mindset kicks in and you look for solutions. We also think that you are an experienced software developer who wants to further broaden your competence within the area of autonomous vehicles and transport solutions.
Our core is the development of an embedded system including real-time environment, C and Python programming as well as Linux. Knowledge about verification of embedded systems; on unit and integration level as well as experience from working within a safety standard development process, such as ISO 13849, is advantageous. Moreover, experience from working in a continuous integration environment with automated tools for testing and knowledge about communication interfaces commonly used within automotive applications is meritorious.
You will have the opportunity to work with different cultures cross-functionally, with internal as well as external stakeholders, and therefore we see that you have good interpersonal and natural ability to create trust and engagement through your high communication skills. Being fluent in English, spoken and written, is also important to succeed in this position. We are actively working to establish teams that will take advantage of the strength inherent to differences in knowledge, experience, age, gender, and nationality, among others. We find that well balanced work teams increase group dynamics, creativity, and new approaches to solutions
