Would you like to shape the future of transportation by developing new autonomous machine and truck solutions together with us? If yes, then you are very welcome to apply for this position!
What it is like to work @ Volvo Autonomous Solutions (V.A.S.)
We are unified by diversity, great ideas and inclusiveness. Our colleagues are the most important part of story. Everyone matters and plays critical role in our journey.
There is plenty of room to learn and grow from our ongoing learning programs or directly from our experts. We look for colleagues who lead with passion, perform with purpose and transform with vision. We are an equal opportunity employer. You can look forward to an inspiring journey together with enthusiastic and professional colleagues throughout the V.A.S and Volvo Group organizations.
This is us, your new colleagues
Our team, the Vehicle Controls & Motion Models within the V.A.S. Technology organization, is responsible for the vehicles in V.A.S. autonomous customer solutions. The vehicle types include machines, trucks, trailers and safety systems. Further, we are responsible for an embedded hardware platform allowing us to develop and integrate our part of the on and off-board autonomous driving system and safety. It is our responsibility to ensure that the vehicles can be operated by the end user in an efficient and safe manner.
Together with Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE) and Volvo Group Trucks Technology (VGTT) we interact closely to secure base machine and truck readiness. We take part in all life cycle phases, from the early specification and development phases throughout the maintenance and quality phases during customer operation.
We are yet a small but passionate and effective team that is stronger than the sum of its parts and ready to tackle the challenges we have ahead of us. We are now looking for two new colleagues to join us in our endeavor to create customer solutions that enhance safety, flexibility and productivity.
This is how you can make an impact
As Software Developer for Vehicle Controls you will take on the task of developing control logic and interfaces in a real-time environment with requirements on both performance and safety for autonomous driving of both machines and trucks.
Our software domain has two main interfaces:
Up-stream towards an external control source, such as the autonomous driving system, teleoperation and line-of-sight control.
Down-stream towards different vehicle control units.
Our software include functionality for arbitration between different external control sources. Our software also acts as an abstraction layer for the different types of vehicles, providing the external control sources with all needed information from the vehicle in a commonly agreed format. The work will cover all stages from prototyping software, requirement development, SiL/HiL/Vehicle verification to final production code verification. We target to have a state-of-the-art development environment.
Who are you?
As you will be working with new technology, it is preferable if you have experience in product development within relevant engineering areas. It is also important that you enjoy working with new technology and take part in continuously improving our ways of working. You will have the opportunity to work with different cultures cross functionally, with internal as well as external stakeholders and therefore we see that you have good interpersonal and communication skills. Being fluent in English, spoken and written, is also important to succeed in this position. Other requirements that we also see as beneficial for the role are:
Experience from development of embedded systems and from troubleshooting, both software and hardware.
Knowledge about C or C++ programming, Linux environments and Python programming.
Experience from verification of embedded systems, on unit and integration level.
Experience from working within a safety standard development process, such as ISO 26262 or ISO 13849.
Experience from working in a Continuous Integration environment with automated tools for testing and deployment.
Knowledge about communication interfaces commonly used within Automotive applications.
We are actively working to establish teams that will take advantage of the strength inherent to differences in knowledge, experience, age, gender and nationality, among others. We find that well balanced work teams increase group dynamics, creativity and new approaches to solutions.
Are we a perfect match?
If the opportunity to shape tomorrow’s transport solutions intrigues you, this is the chance for you to prosper and we are eager to receive your application letter and CV in English. We can promise you great colleagues and some truly exciting opportunities. You will work in a global environment that provides you with developmental prospects both professionally and personally.
