Scania is transforming from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions. Autonomous and electric vehicles cause a paradigm shift in our industry. The share of the customer value that are created by software is increasing rapidly. Digitalization and software in both vehicles and cloud-based services are key for future success.
A new department called Software Development System is started to ensure the best Software Developer Experience in our business. Our mission is to enable development teams in our company to efficiently identify customer needs, explore solutions and to develop and deploy new features to the rolling customer fleet. We aim to create an excellent SW development experience with fast learning loops based on data driven development by implementing one common highly automated development pipe, process and toolchain to make it easy and fun to deliver customer value through software.
The new group ‘Concept development and Investigations’ will be responsible for refining the definition and strategy of the new department. Therefor we searching for senior experts to identify and lead the necessary investigations that ultimately enable the best SW developer experience in our business.
This specific role is covering the areas of defining the tool chain for a developer end-to-end perspective. There is a need to increase the level of automation of the tool chain and prepare the tool chain architecture for high performance cluster (HPC) environment. There is also a need to get the tool chain better connected for both embedded SW and cloud/offboard SW. You will work in a small team with close collaboration with both ED-groups and cross functional teams.
Your tasks
• Drive and contribute to our understanding of needs regarding tools needed for product development and handling of product data
• Lead investigations to define one suggested complete SW tool chain and, if needed, framework for local tools
• Develop principles describing what to use when and how
• Create vision and roadmap with work packages for the fields mentioned above
• Perform Proof of Concepts
Your profile
We are looking for a senior expert that has
• a solid background within embedded and off-board development.
• understanding of all development steps from requirements, coding, testing, integration to a delivered function in the truck or in the cloud
• a genuine interest in how techniques, processes and methods are integrated to create an optimized workflows with focus on developer experience
• experience from building tool chains in enterprise environments
• an ability to visualize, drive and push to results
• the capability to manage a large network with many interfaces and your strength is to identify your contribution to the big picture
• great communication skills with good knowledge of English and Swedish both in written and spoken form
• excellent cooperation skills in an international environment
