There is now an opening for a developing and challenging position, a Software Engineer. Working with the process and product in our assembly shop and being a part of the exciting journey in building up and verifying the SW process and product for our new battery plant.
Software download & final test is a part of the team that see to software functions for tomorrow’s car’s works in a global assembly and fine-tunes their attributes. You would work with the most interesting software download processes on the market together with a global team located in all our manufacturing regions.

What you will do
As Software Engineer for Commodity Manufacturing Engineering within the team in Volvo Cars Torslanda plant you will lead the cross technical product and production manufacturing work and represent manufacturing engineering during launch phase. Your main tasks will be to proactively assure a flawless introduction of car programs into our plants.
As Software Engineer you will perform fault tracing, analyse possible mismatch of software/hardware solutions, request updates, do minor programming yourself or arrange scripts for our production environment. Error handling is not a planned activity, but complex systems of modern prototype vehicles is expected to have some degree of error states that need to be found and corrected so the cars can be used for their planned purposes. You will be a new member in our global team supporting our plants worldwide. You will have close cooperation other SW Manufacturing Engineers worldwide but also with plant personal and R&D SW engineers.
Do you fit the profile?
We are looking for a positive and proactive team player who has a strong ability for cross-functional and multi-cultural teamwork. Since you have many interfaces within the company, you have good communication and networking skills.
You have high analytic abilities and problem-solving skills. You have the ability to organize and prioritize among your work tasks. To fully enjoy the job, you are target-oriented and can handle a rapidly changing environment and work task. You feel confutable in a high-speed production environment where your support can be needed on short notice. You are open and willing to travel at times.
We see that you have an engineering university degree preferably with computer/software focus. Experience of electronics and software engineering and a good automotive knowledge is also beneficial.
The tasks require that you welcome and want to understand new technology, have software skills and the ability to independently obtain necessary information. This type of engineering requires a structured way of working to solve the, sometimes very complex, issues reported to you.
You need to have driver’s license and be fluent in English, spoken and written. Further, you are motivated by learning new things and growing together with us.
