We are looking for a Software engineer with a passion for cars and test automation for our cross-functional team.
About us
We are a system team, working with test environments for the complete electrical system, within 94600 Software and Electrical Platform integration and release. We work in a test environment, Vehicle In the Loop (VIL), that supports all engineering departments. The test environment enables us to run remote testing on real and prototype vehicles that are moving. The team works with both preparing test environment for different types of vehicles, prepare break-out harness and prepare and run automated test cases. Our test environments are used for software tests on complete vehicle level.

We at Volvo cars are in the transformation towards a Software company, working with Agile development methods, introducing Continuous Integration, in the forefront when it comes to Safety, Sustainability and Electrification. In this change, our VIL test environment gives us lots of opportunities to verify both platform and specific car models. We are building up our methods and ways-of-working to perform this in an efficient and re-usable way with quality of the product in focus.
We now need someone to strengthen the team with both planning and prepare test objects, as well as supporting in test development work. Strong troubleshooting skills in complete vehicle is also a necessary skill. We use Vector based tools, and both CAPL and Python when it comes to test development. As a Software Engineer in our VIL rigs, you will gain a broad understanding of Volvo Cars vehicle systems and electrical functions. You will also cooperate with other groups at Volvo and our suppliers while building a broad network.
You and your skills
You possess a Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics, Electrics or Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent and have experience of test automation. You have a strong interest in automotive industry. You are comfortable with hands on work, manual testing, and troubleshooting. You have knowledge in Automated test development using C/C++/Python. We believe you have good communication skills and ability to collaborate with different stakeholders. We believe you enjoy great teamwork, are proactive, creative, driven, and willing to share knowledge and take responsibility.
Qualifications
• Good knowledge in troubleshooting SW issues in vehicle
• Good knowledge in manual testing of cars and fault tracing
• Programming experience in CAPL, C# and/or Python
• Experience from handling of technical equipment and test objects
• Experience from testing in a continuous integration context
• Experience in Vector tools, such as CANalyzer, CANOE, CAPL
• Driving license for cars (not necessary Swedish)
Meritorious
• Experience of working with version and revision control systems e.g. Git
• Experience from working with Agile development process
• Knowledge of Jenkins, Cynosure or similar automation tool
• Worked with building HIL, MIL rigs and automated test systems in dSPACE rigs
• ISTQB certification, or equivalent knowledge.
