We are looking for a dedicated Software Engineer to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our passionate Software & Automation team based in Västerås. By joining us, you will be a key player in establishing state of the art digitalization for our industrialization site and contribute to the development of digital solutions.
About the job
As a software engineer in the Software & Automation department you will be developing edge solutions to integrate our equipment to Northvolt cloud. Your applications will handle the data acquisition and communication between our cloud and our testing and production equipment.
You will need to get a in depth understanding of the production process and data flow in our system to support with root cause analysis, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our environment. Additionally, we are looking for candidates that are excited about the industrial world – seeing and making real things happen.
About the team
The Software & Automation department are responsible for the software stack for our Västerås site. At the site there are multiple production lines, testing facilities and about 1000 people working, where we develop digital solutions to help the every day work as well bring insights through data and traceability throughout the organization.
The Software & Automation department, today consists of a mix between Software and Automation Engineers working towards increasing the efficiency in our production and testing facilities through digital solutions.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop, test and deploy software systems for automation, data collection and machine learning applications
Collaborate with a cross-functional group of experts across the company to make sure we build the right things together for the right reasons
Design solutions for how to integrate our MES system with our equipment
Assist, oversee and lead design, development and test of systems in the software technologies
Test and validate supplier implementation of equipment connectivity interface
Maintain our software stack and debug issues and resolve incidents that are affecting our users

Skills & Requirements
We believe that you have :
Basic knowledge of algorithms, data structures, concurrency, distributed systems and eventual consistency
Experience in one or several programming languages (Go, Python, Java)
Good communication skills, a learning mindset and the ability to get stuff done
Passionate for solving problems

Bonus points for:
Experience and interest in manufacturing industry
Fluency in other languages (Japanese, Swedish, Chinese, French)
Experience from a multi-cultural environment
