Software Engineer, SDK for High Performance Platform
Let's create the future together.
The future belongs to those who are empowered by a great idea and can carry it out. At Volvo Cars our purpose is to provide freedom to move in a personal, sustainable, and safe way. Do you want to be part of creating a safe, reliable, and secure software platform for our future Volvo models?
This is us.
Volvo Cars have an ambition to expand its in-house software development. At the department of Core System Software, we are part of this ambition. Our teams are building the next generation high-performance in-vehicle compute cluster, designed to host different vehicle applications, stretching from basic vehicle state machines to advance active safety and unsupervised autonomous drive functionalities. This compute cluster will be launched in our coming generation of pure electric and self-driving Volvo models. Our task is to create a safe, reliable, and secure software that serve as a platform for our stakeholders and partners to deploy and innovate their applications on.
Our multi-core architecture includes high-performance (HP) systems on a chip (SoC), providing a framework for current and future services. We are now looking for experienced software development engineers with a genuine problem-solving attitude to strengthen our software development organization.
What you will do
At Core System Platform we are building a computer-in-the-car architecture – key for enabling innovation within areas such as advanced connectivity, machine learning and autonomous drive. Our mission is to build a full stack embedded development environment focusing on creating a safe, reliable, and secure platform solution to enable the next generation of innovative car applications.
In our part of the R&D, we develop a software development kit (SDK) to be used by software developers working with car features that are deployed on top of our platform. The SDK is a key enabler for increasing speed and quality of the software deliveries in the ever more complex software environment of a modern car. The SDK supports all aspects of the software development cycle: a documentation framework for the platform, a build environment, test environments (virtual as well as physical) and a continuous integration environment where applications meet and integrate with the platform.
With us you will have a great opportunity for development in an organization that promotes curiosity and values everyone’s contribution. We believe our success lies in working together, creating our culture by empowering teams and individuals. An environment where we create state of the art SW, using the latest technologies and continuously reinvent. Together we make a difference!
Who are you?
We believe that you want to build modern, modular and stable platforms and appreciate efficient continuous integration environments. To be successful in this job we also believe that you have experience from working in a Linux environment and preferably good development competence in areas like
• C/C++ for POSIX-like environments.
• Python
• SDK tools and infrastructures
• CI/CD tools and pipelines
• Shell scripting
If you already have experience in working with Jenkins, Robot Framework, Docker, CMake, GNU Make, interfacing using REST APIs, Gerrit Code Review or GitLab, it will be meritorious as well.
What do we offer?
Everything we do starts with people, and we want to be the employer of choice where people make the difference. We encourage and support our people to a happy and healthy mental, physical, or social lifestyle. Therefore, we invest in our facilities, providing excellent collaboration areas, offering both proactive health benefits and a safe working environment, and we drive an inclusive working culture where our teams have fun every day. You will be offered possibilities to develop your competence and you will have opportunities to grow your contributions in our organization over time.
