The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology conducts research and offers education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We are looking for a software engineer for the bioinformatics division within the Department of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (IFM). 

Your future work assignments 
Your tasks will consist of development and implementation of software for machine learning within structural bioinformatics with applications in protein structure prediction. You will work with implementing recent improvements to AlphaFold and OpenFold using TensorFlow and PyTorch frameworks. In addition, you will provide advanced software development support to the structural bioinformatics group and make sure that the developed and public code base is maintained at a high-quality standard.

Your qualifications
We are looking for someone with an academic degree in bioinformatics, biotechnology or computer science; with experience from modeling protein structure and machine learning, in particular knowledge of AlphaFold and/or OpenFold software packages is a merit. Experience using Python and any of the frameworks TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn is highly appreciated, especially in the context of structural biology. In addition, experience from working with version control preferable using git is an advantage. It is also an advantage if you have experience from using some macromolecular viewer like VMD, Chimera, or PyMol.

100%, 11 months and 20 days.
