Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.
This is us.
Volvo Cars have an ambition to expand our in-house software development. At the department of Core System Software, we are part of this ambition. Our teams are building the next generation high-performance in-vehicle compute cluster, designed to host different vehicle applications, stretching from basic vehicle state machines to advance active safety and unsupervised autonomous drive functionalities. This compute cluster will be launched in our coming generation of pure electric and self-driving Volvo models. Our task is to create a safe, reliable, and secure software that serve as a platform for our stakeholders and partners to deploy applications on.
What you will do.
In parallel with the development of our coming generation of core compute architecture, we are also accelerating our initiatives to define our future iterations of our platform. We are now seeking experienced software engineers to be part of our journey.
Similar to the teams working with our first platform iterations, you will in this role belong to a team that applies agile methodology. The team will consist of a mix of different competences, to enable nimble development iterations. The overall objective is to apply exploratory development to define new software solutions. The team will create and demo proof-of-concepts, and over time mature solutions to become ready for production.
Your daily tasks will include work with adaptation and development of our solutions. You will automate your repetitive development tasks and as part of the team’s end-to-end responsibility, you will create test cases and secure your teams test coverage with automated testing. You will contribute with the creation of relevant and concise documentation to increase knowledge sharing in our organization.
Who are you?
You are an analytical problem-solver with a customer-oriented mind-set, who enjoy being part of a team where you take own initiatives. You are humble and can quickly adapt to better new ideas, independent of where they come from.
We believe that you have around 5+ years of experience from embedded software development in C and C++14.
To qualify for the role, it is required that you are familiar with several of below areas:
• Real-time software e.g., Linux, QNX or similar POSIX RTOS
• Distributed systems
• ARM Architecture
• Board Support Package (BSP) configuration
• Hypervisors
Fluency in spoken and written English is required. We believe that you have an educational background with a degree in Computer Science or related fields.
