Who are we?
Volvo Autonomous Solutions (VAS) is the business area within Volvo Group that accelerates the development, commercialization, and sales of autonomous solutions. The vision for Volvo Group is to be the most desired and successful transport and infrastructure solution provider in the world. We don’t sell trucks and machines: we operate the solutions through the full life cycle to maximize the improvements achievable through autonomy.
That goes hand in hand with our long-term ambitions: 100% Safe, 100% Fossil free and 100% more productive. The automation of our vehicles is seen as a natural step towards reaching that goal. Joining the Volvo Group means contributing to a large global company that is transforming itself towards these ambitions. We are committed to diversity and inclusion, fostering a team culture where differences are seen as a stepping-stone to better results.

In our organization, you will make a difference for the future:
We look for colleagues who are truly passionate about what they do and pride themselves with being professional, flexible and solution oriented. To be successful in this role, we believe you are eager to take a major role in architecting and rewriting the back-end part of an existing web application, as well as enabling and contributing to future feature growth.
Your responsibilities will include working with software architecture, databases and data structures. We see you as a professional skilled in making architectural decisions, writing software, and managing CI/CD workflows. You will have a big influence on future technology choices starting from the current tech stack which includes tools and technologies such as Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Python (Numpy, Pandas, Tkinter), etc.
An interest in mathematical optimization, geometry, control-theory, and/or statistics would be a bonus, but is not necessary for the role.
We hope you see yourself as an enthusiastic, humble self-starter with a collaborative, creative mindset. You thrive when tackling complex problems and are committed to seeing tasks through to completion. As you will be working with new technology in a holistic customer-centric perspective, we also believe that a key quality for this role is a positive spirit with a desire to improve the status quo. It would be great if you also value and can foster a culture of transparency, feedback and compassion.
