Why we will love you
“At IKEA, you’re welcome no matter where you come from, what you believe, and what you look like. We don’t even care how you have furnished your home. We’re interested in you simply because you’re you. Our different views, backgrounds, and personalities make us better understand our customers, give us more fun at work and spark more and better ideas. Perhaps your unique take on something could lead to a great idea that creates a better everyday life for the many people.
Who we are
Hej! My name is Dervis Avdic and I am privileged to lead the API Management team at IKEA. API Management is an internal platform which consists of technical components and services that are used by product teams to build business digital solutions. We are the technological foundations for building customer facing solutions, as well as internal operational teams. Sounds amazing right? The world is changing fast and we need to adapt. As I write this, we are in the center of a digital transformation of IKEA. To quote our CEO Jesper Brodin, “we need to change everything (almost!)”.
What you will be doing ?
If you read the text above you know that you will be working in API Management which is a team located in Helsingborg/Malmö, but with flexibility to work remote. We work with the latest technology within API Management such as Kong and cloud engineering such as Google Cloud Platform. You will be working broadly within the team to solve problems and if there is any specific area you want to deep dive, feel free. We are working with all engineering teams in IKEA which is 200+, where our user interface is becoming key in order to satisfy developer experience.
WHO YOU ARE
We are looking for someone that likes to solve problems and find new ways of doing things together with the team. Since our customers are all the product teams in IKEA there is a lot of customer interaction in our community. Eating your own dog food is a saying we have here.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Delivering quality software quickly, reliably, and safely to production, and understanding the customer impact and experience of your contribution with focus on frontend development
• Applying good practice software engineering practices. We love simplicity!
• Providing support and guidance as needed to other developers in the team, encouraging good practices, creating an environment based on psychological safety.
• Contributing to continuous development as well as exploring and bringing in modern technologies and tools to boost innovation and development productivity.
• Helping to identify, collect, automate, and use the right data points to improve our engineering process, helping with business measures to improve our digital products.
• At home in different ecosystems and programming environments like JS, Node/Typescript, React, Cloud systems knowledge, Cloud native Microservices.
Our team within IKEA
We’re the ones who make it possible for people to have a smarter life at home and a hassle-free and rewarding shopping experience. Together we work to find new digital solutions for every business need to help make IKEA a great and efficient place to work. We like to think of ourselves as innovative and modern, and we believe that nothing would actually work without us.
Questions and support? Let's connect!
We will be interviewing continuously and are looking forward to hearing from you!
PLEASE NOTE
Due to GDPR we cant review any applications coming to us in other ways than trough our recruitment program.
Our primary concern since the outbreak of corona virus has been the health and safety of our co-workers and candidates. Because of this, we have adapted our recruiting processes to be fully digital.
Studies show that members of underrepresented communities don’t apply for jobs unless they’re 100% “qualified”. If this is part of the reason you hesitate to apply, we like you to reconsider and give it a chance. Maybe your profile fits our needs much better than you think. We look forward to receiving your application.
