Role Summary/Purpose:

Essential Responsibilities:
Interaction designers work through how things function and behave ? The Quality In Use. They are experts in information hierarchies and the ways an interface can transition from one state to another. Interaction design is the art of knowing if an interface should be split across one page or two, and whether a button or link would be more appropriate in a particular situation. Interaction designers can turn ideas into whiteboard or napkin sketches that are easier to comprehend and discuss. NOTE: An overlapping concept that you will sometimes hear is information architecture a term that generally embodies the idea of arranging information into structures meaningful for end users.
The interaction design activities and artifacts include but are not limited to:
User story mapping (or equivalent)
Developing wireframes
Developing storyboards
Various mock-ups; from paper and pencil to interactive using preferred tools
Creating the overall interaction scheme and layout in relation to the product concept; defining the dynamics of the user interaction and the navigation paths and specifying the information structure
Detailed layout of interaction components, when applicable
Applying design patterns and look and feel guidelines, GE?s design systems (e.g. HDx, IIDS, MoDS)
Detailed user interface specification if applicable
Working with the UxLead on updating; user profiles, use scenarios etc
Teaming up with software engineers to work on interactive prototypes and ensure that the designs are feasible to implement
Working closely with software engineers to efficiently handle various design questions and options that occur during the development of the user interfaces
When applicable taking lead in the structure and implementation of the GUI (front-end) code.
Participating in usability evaluations
Qualifications/Requirements:
B.Sc. degree with relevant IxD focus, or comparable level of competence.
Minimum of 3 years' experience as Interaction Designer
English and Swedish (written and spoken)
EU work permit
Desired Characteristics:
Experience with Agile development best practices
Excellent communication and analytic skills
Energetic and self-motivated
Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously and produce high quality products
Experience from design of Windows desktop applications
