Would you like to be part of Volvo Cars transformation to become a highly skilled software company? We are now looking for a Software Network Design Engineer & PMTI Developer to join the Signal Release team within Software Design at Volvo Cars Headquarters in Gothenburg.   

The Signal Release team is a central team responsible for performing releases of the signal data base to all car projects, managing signal communication dimensioning of electrical systems in the complete car, and supporting many different development teams with signal communication. The group is also responsible for the toolchain for the main tools Elektra and CapitalNetworks (CN), and for developing new functions, updates, and maintenance of the tools, as well as for the signal release processes, the tool methods and tool & process trainings.

The Signal Release team works in a dynamic and inspiring agile environment, with development, improvement and learning as important cornerstones. We work within a large network of people; architects, designers, and test engineers for electrical development, continuously developing our processes and tools in a close cooperation with our IT tool supplier and our inhouse tool development department.
What you’ll do 
As a Software Network Design Engineer & PMTI Developer, you will be part of the team that works with our cars’ electrical architecture and communication strategies to provide tools for the complete SW development process across R&D. The team is part of the Product Structure & Engineering Tools Agile Release Train, which is responsible for implementing signals/messages on different technologies, such as CAN, LIN, FLEXRAY, ETHERNET and SomeIP. You will be part of delivering working methods and tools (e.g., Elektra and CN) to create the design of complete electrical system for different car projects. The team is also coaching and training the design engineers and realize the needs of teams within the communication platform.

You will create and maintain the existing signal database tools, as well as playing an important role in setting up the toolchain for electrical signal database generation. You will also analyze new concepts and strategies to assist the organization in the best way, such as applying agile development methods to enable continuous integration and delivery. Also, you will continuously work with processes, method, concept and workflow development and improvements to meet future needs.

You and your skills
We see that you have a university degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent area, as well as knowledge of automotive embedded systems, preferably within the signal database and communication area (LIN, CAN, Flexray, Ethernet, SomeIP). You also need to have knowledge of Agile development and to be fluent in English (written and spoken). 

Experience or understanding within Mentor Graphics and Vector tools such as CN, ELEKTRA or equal engineering tools, Autosar standard, Object Oriented principles, issue management systems, base technologies within HW/SW Platform and SDB, safety and security, variability and configuration management, and knowledge of cars development in general or Volvo Cars R&D development in particular is considered meritorious but not a must.  

On a personal level, you are a contributing member of the team with good cooperation, supporting and networking skills. You have an open and flexible mind and a willingness to share knowledge and experience in a cross-functional and cross-organizational team. From your genuine interest in processes and IT tool development, your are self-motivated, able work independently and eager to learn and susceptible to change. Furthermore, you are a target driven, problem solving, structured, proactive, and analytical person with a strong customer focus.
